Sweet Dreadful Moments

Nothing like that sense of dread of what lies in the next room. I've already died so many times in this game, even as I try to pad my character with some early game farming for what lies ahead. And I love it. Soon I'll be pressing forward to discover all of the incredible areas and ridiculous difficulties of this game and I'm excited for it! I will say that I have encountered a few bogus hit boxes (and reworked my tactics around them) and I know that this game lacks some of the grandeur of the original, but it holds up its own identity and is a great souls game (so far).Read full review...

A conundrum of a game.

This game is good. Its creative, visually impressive, and in a lot of ways, smart with its assets.

But its just so obnoxiously difficult. I want more story and less agitating grind-work. The bosses are amazing, but they're sometimes easier to beat than the stupid swarms of grunts that precede them. If you want to dump 80 hours into an anger fest and trash a few controllers on the way, I'd recommend it. Otherwise, just grab something with a legitimate narrative and investment in the story. It's the Hardest game ever.

This game is supposed to be impossible and it is! It took me 45 minutes to move 10 feet, but I'm getting better. Compelling and fun to negotiate through. It may take me forever to make it through.

Although Dark Souls II has a striking amount of resemblance to the original Dark Souls, its combat system has been tweaked significantly. The game is finally extremely difficult, as all previous methods of exploiting the combat system were removed. Great game. Not backwards compatible though

This is an amazing game and I would encourage buying it but unlike dark souls 1 it is not backwards compatible so buy this only if you have an Xbox 360
