Best battery powered portable hotspot on the market!

The Cradlepoint family of hotspots or 3G/4G routers is simple superb. Everywhere I go I carry a 3G/4G USB stick with a Cradlepoint. Previously using the top of the line CTR500 (without a doubt, the best of its kind, and the only one that can hold both a USB and a Express Card 3G/4G devices at the same time and do load balancing with them as well as the Ethernet port; totally insane!)

Then why get the PHS300? Simple reason, battery powered! If you don't mind that the PHS300 drops from 32 to 16 users or doesn't have neither the Ethernet or Express Card ports, when compared to bigger brother CTR500, and all you need is a USB port for your 3G/4G device, then the PHS300 is the one. Pretty much it comes down to that and the battery as main power source. So forget the cables!

All the routers in the Cradlepoint family are products of superior quality and build and the PHS300 will certainly exceed any expectations you might have of such devices with a feature rich set of options that allow to customize it to any possible need or situation, yet it can be setup with a simple smart wizard. Either way it will do and behave as promised. For some the CTR500 might be overkill, but the PHS300 offers a great balance of features at a better price.

As final note, if possible, make sure you get the one with Hardware version 2.0 and above especially if you're looking for 4G support. The H/W version 1.x is only 3G, although you can get them cheaper and still makes for a great hotspot solution.

Great product, fantastic price, and the final piece to my technology needs!

I ordered a PHS300 because I recently got an iPad2 and my kids have iPods that we wanted to be able to access the internet from anywhere we were. After some concerns about my phone not being supported (BlackBerry Storm II - 9550) by the manufacturer of this product, I didn't know for sure whether it would work or not. I dediced to order it anyway and give it a try anyway, thinking I could sell it to someone else if it didn't work for me. After getting the product and plugging it all in, it wouldn't work at first. I starting doing some research and realized I didn't have the settings correct, so I made some changes and it worked!!! My particular issue was the password on my BlackBerry, but there is a setting where you can store your device password in the router settings. After doing that, I tested it on my iPad2 and my kid's iPods and everything was super quick! I was really surprised and super excited to finally have internet access from anywhere I have signal! Very good Router for broadband air card

I have been using this model for years. The battery just gave out on the old one and it was cheaper to just purchase a replacement unit. The unit performs very well and has a very good range. I would recommend this product highly. I know of nothing bad with using this unit. Read full review...

Better than I expected!!

As long as you pay attention to the UBS modem compatibility charts you won't be disaponted. As soon as I upgraded my unit from the Cradelpoint website it recognized my device and took me through the configuration wizard. A unique and unexpected capability was the ability to set up a walled garden with an access password. This allows me to make the modem usable for a group at a meeting, a very handy feature indeed. Of course the real limit of the device is the capability of the USB modem and the network you connect it to. Fun Fast Functional

This is an easy to install product that works as Cradlepoint says it will. Makes for a good wifi tool so you can share your bandwidth with others. Will use it with my Virgin Mobile data plan while on the train going to Colorado. Only negative is it transmits/receives data constantly. So even thought my computer was not on, it was using up data minutes keeping connected. But just have to remember to shut it off when not using it, or buy the unlimited plan.Read full review...

I am amazed!

This device allows all the computers in the house to be on line using my VZ USB760. Once you set each computer up, all you need to do is turn on the router and start you computer. Somehow, the speed is enhanced as well.
It only took 15 minutes (I read the instructions as I went) to set up the administrator and less than five for each of the other computers. As long as the router holds its integrity I and my "home office" are good to go!Read full review...

would give 5 stars if the battery lasted more than 3 hours and if it was a little smaller. Overall works great, used it as a hot spot in my car from NC to DC and back without issue. Works great with Verizon card.Read full review...

great item

Works great, true plug and play with minimal setup. Bought it so I can use it while I travel. please make sure you use the right adapter (5V, 2.5 A) otherwise you will damage it.

Discontinued but works great

This item is discontinued now. But I've used it for two years as my hotspot router inside my minivan. I used a China Unicom SIM in Beijing (WCDMA); both 21Mbs HSPA+ and the slower HSPA modem works. Love it!Read full review...
