Bubbly and unstable
Bubbly and unstable. When it works it’s awesome but it’s incredibly unpredictable; getting rid of the bubbles it’s a lot of work and often it cures bubbly and opaque. When it goes right it’s crystal clear, but it’s a very hard resin to tame. Nowadays I just put some alcohol on the mix and it helps with the bubbles (and it gives them a rather elastic consistency, which saves you the trouble of filing down the very sharp hard edges on stuff like keychains or jewelry (from silicone molds). I like that it’s a 50-50 mix, it’s a pain go mix any other ratio, which I will NEVER do again. Actually I like their other formula (that it’s 1 to .50 ratio) better but nah, that’s too much work and I once got the proportions mixed up and I lost A LOT of material because it never cured. Misleading product
It says casting resin but that is a false statement for sure. I poured a 3/4 in pour 3 in. Wide x 27 in. Long. I mixed as directed and it seemed to pour ok but then started smoking and bubbling and it set so quick. I was using a torch for bubbles but it still failed. Holes throughout the whole pour. Clearcast 7000 is my new favorite epoxy resin for any and every epoxy project
So it is very affordable compared to other top leading brands and is very easy to work with. Self leveling for easy pours and dries crystal clear. There were few to no bubbles at all during the process so no need for constant torching or hair drying. Mix, pour, swirl, go eat lunch, and your done. Curing process is fast and your ready to go on to the next one. Definately recommend you at least try it out if your into castings. I have used 1 gallon of the Clearcast 7000 and it is a great product if your tinting it but I still haven't gotten it to produce a none micro bubble clear untinted cast but it isgreat for coasters because of the high heat it can take so I'm buying a 2nd gallon still looking for that clear cast.Read full review...
