An Eye Opener

Interesting book. I brought it as a required text for a class. The teacher gave us specific questions and we were required to thoroughly read each chapter...and then we had a class discussion about it. First know that...I understand that he was informing the reader of how cooking affected the brain and the small intestine. But looking at the other points he made in the book, I have some thoughts about it. First, I found some points to agree with the author. He stated several health benefits about eating a vegetarian or vegan or raw diet. But, for the most part, he did not think that this was the way to consume food because of the amount of time it would take to chew the raw food. Well...I do agree that meat should be cooked and veggies raw to lightly steamed. He STRONGLY believes that eating cooked foods give energy. I say, yes with some reservations. In our today's society, there are LOTS of "over-sized" people who have eaten too much cooked food and have no energy. I believe many people are out-of-control eating and can't help themselves because humans have learned how to make food addictive. Among the top selling products on the market are "how to lose weight." In the book, he also mentioned how the people, who ate the vegetarian diet, also lost weight. Hmmmm......now there's an idea that could make someone rich.Read full review...
