Small and mighty

The camera, a gift for my son, has already been put through the paces. My son has taken a small collection of pictures and is pleased with the different options and the ease of sharing the images across devices.Read full review...

Serves the purpose well

Bought this Canon for my daughter (who kept losing her cameras) as a Christmas gift. Didn't want to spend alot of money but wanted a camera that would do some nice shots.

She has really enjoyed the camera. It's small enough that she can use a simple bag to carry it in. Has some nice extra features for an inexpensive point and shoot.

Would recommend this for someone just needing an everyday fun camera.

Exactly what you paid for...maybe less

I lost my old camera and I just wanted a point-and-shoot camera so I could take pictures of me and my friends, my family, and my little nephew. This camera does that but there are many thing I do not like about it. It shuts off everytime after I review my pictures. Everytime you take a take a picture you have to wait like 6 seconds afterwards because it says it is charging the flash. It takes AA batteries, so you cant just plug it into a charger. It is bulky and feels cheap. The worst part about it is the shutting off on its own, it really ticks me off. I turned off the auto power down and it still does it. I have to keep turning off the auto power off too because it seems like everytime I turn it on and the off it goes back to the original settings. Well...I wanted a cheap camera, and I got one. If you are looking for a cheap point-and-shoot camera then this will work, but Id spend a little more money getting something you'll be happy with. This may be ok for like...a kids first camera. Positive side of things....lets see. The pictures look nice, it has different setting you can put on it like nightshot, portrait, indoor, kids and pets, and stuff like that. The person I bought this from shipped everything very nicely and well packaged, so I am very happy with the person I bought it from, just not the product-which isn't their fault at all.

Bottom line: Pick another camera because this one just doesn't cut the mustard my friends.

Canon PowerShot A495 10.0 Megapixel

This was a replacement camera for an older Canon used for work as an auto damage appraiser. This little camera rocks - it self focuses, takes great photos -easy to set up, use and maintain. Built fairly durable - mine gets dropped all the time. The battery door is a little on the cheap side be careful
sliding it shut - a few wrong angles and the door will crack and not hold the batterys tight enough for a connection. The battery life is not real good - takes a litle whle for the flash to boot up but you can turn it off and the low resolution of light will enable the camera to take a clear shot. All in all for the price I think this is a great camera made by a reputable company.
I would suggest this to anyone who wants to take great photos with little effort. And it comes in colors - not just black and silver like most others.

PowerShot A495

I've been looking for a high megapixel camera to replace a Olympus 2 Megapixel camera that I have had for quite some time. I compared the Canon to Olympus and Nikon brands of similar specs, and found that the Canon, for me, at the most bang for the buck. More expensive than the Olympus models and less than the Nikon models, I found out for myself, and through product reviews of the other models that the Canon would best suit my needs. The Canon A495 is very feature rich for a camera in its price range and size. It's biggest shortcoming is that it has the less desireable digital stabiliztion mode, but I have yet to have a problem with picture quality since using it - have taken over 400 pictures in the 4-5 weeks of owning it. The bundle package that came with the camera - 4G Memory card, screen protectors, camera bag, mini-tripod and lense cleaning rag made the deal even sweeter for me. I was trying to stay under $100 and this whole package made that possible. You'll want to use a higher quality battery with the camera. The included batteries, like reviews state, don't last very long, but I have had decent results with the lithium batteries in the camera now. The size and portability of the camera were also an important feature for me. I didn't want anything to slimlined, yet didn't want bulk either. This camera, with included camera bag, attached neatly to my computer bag for carrying. And the camera alone is small enough to fit in a pocket by itself or slip the camera bag through a belt loop and bring along for the ride. It may not be the best of the best in its class, but you could do much worse for more money. I highly recommend this model for others wanting small, portable, flexible features and price. You can't go wrong as far as I have seen.Read full review...

PowerShot a495 review

I bought this camera for my wife because she wanted a digital camera that was:
user friendly
takes quality photos
under 100.00
rugged and uses AA batteries.
This camera was it! Compared to the Nikon L22 and reading reviews and comparisons, this camera edged out the Nikon in picture quality. Our batteries last longer (rechargeable) and she doesnt have to worry about being careful. This camera is a nice point and shoot with user friendly controls and programs. It takes nice pics and despite its plastic texture, it feel good in you hand. I would recommend this to anyone.Read full review...

Starters Camera

This camera is ok for a starter’s camera or for the kids to play around with.

It takes good pictures, you just need to know how to play with the setting and to set the aperture correctly, try not to use the zoom often it doesn’t come out to clear if the lighting isn’t good.

If you use low powered batteries the camera will take a few seconds to recharge the flash, I recommend buying high powered lithium batteries from Energizer or Duracell don’t go for any other company there is a reason they are more expensive.

Awesome product! Great value for the price

This is a great Camera! Just simple and efficient, picture quality is awesome and Canon. Have lot of pre scenes in order to have the best from it and a manual mode that is good.
The battery sometimes can jump of the camera if you are not extremely careful.
In comparison with Sony cameras picture quality is much better!
In comparison with Canon A5xx may be less proffesional, doesn't allow to change lens.
