One outstanding piece of equipment!

I'm writing this to give this printer a superb rating, but I don't think it's made anymore. In its price range, I don't think it has had an equal. I've been a graphic artist and working corporate and fine art photographer for decades, and this machine does an excellent job with color, and a very good job with black and white photos, with the shadows tending to be a bit on the heavy side. Good color desktop printer for home use

I bought this to replace an identical printer that I bought used and that simply wore out after 10 years of service. My experience with the Canon PIXMA IP6600D has been very good. It has large capacity ink cartridges (CLI-8) and compatible or re-filled cartridges work just fine. It has a six-color system that does very well on photos as well as text. Canon PIXMA iP6600D InkJet Photo Printer

I bought it to replace my wife's S820 printer. Not pleased that I had to ditch her collection of S800 cartridges and buy Pixma cartridges. Way too many cartridges out there.

She says it works perfectly and she likes the print.

I'm using up her old S800 cartridges in my S820, an old one, which I created by cannibalizing two printers for parts. When the cartridges are gone, I'll ditch it and get my own Pixma.

The printers are cheap. The ink is expensive. The printheads are exorbitant and very hard to find. Drawbacks of using 6 or 8-ink printers with separate print heads. Great quality. Complicated maintenance. Big ink inventory.Read full review...

Excellent Photo Printer

This is the second Canon PIXMA iP6600D printer that I have owned. I print a large number of photos and put a heavy demand on my photo printer. This little workhorse occupies a small footprint in my office but it turns out studio quality photos and lightning fast speed. The fact that it takes six color ink carts, including Photo Magenta and Photo Cyan explains why the finished product has such fine detail that can not be achieved on many much bulkier printers.Read full review...

Canon photo printer

I bought this printer because I wanted to print good quality photos at home. I already have an all-in-one for the everyday stuff so black and white text printing was not a concern.
I have only used it a few times so far but am very happy with the quality and ease of use. The colors are very good and I do not have to go out to get photos printed at the store anymore. It is great for family gatherings and parties, guests can leave with photos from the event.
I'm not sure of all the differences between the 6600 and newer 6700 but I probably would not be able to notice them anyway. The much lower price was what sold me on the 6600. All and all I am very happy with the purchase.Read full review...

The Canon iP6600 Photo Printer

This is the best photo printer I have had the pleasure to own to date for several reasons; 1)DPI can reach 9600 X 2400. 2)The printer can connect to some cameras directly through USB. 3)The printer can print from your computer.
4)Slots to accommodate any memory card from any camera allow printing photos to involve less steps to quality pictures. 5)Printer is capable of recieving wireless picture transmissions from many camera phones. 6)Six different colored ink jet cartridges allow for more precise color photos. 7)Pictures can be trimmed or cropped through a menue on the printer with photo shop precision. 8)You also receive Canon's service which is to free or over the web.
I did a lot of research before selecting this printer and I must admit that all which I found to be truly important for quality photos at home have been incorporated into this unit. Canon Pixma ip6600D

Greates printer I've ever owned. Great photos. Very easy to use. This is the first Canon I've owned and if they're all like this one then there's no need to have any other printer companies. I bought the first one that was a demo at Office Depot. A friend of mine needed a printer and didn't have or want an Ebay account so I bought it for him. He feels the same way as I do about this printer. Now the con: It either uses a lot of ink or the containers don't hold a lot. It seems that I am always running out of one color or the other. It has 6 cartridges. When the level indicator says low it still will go for a long time which is aggravating because I am always wondering if it is going to come to a stop in the middle of a project when I don't have time to be changing cartridges. Still with such ease of use I like it by far better than any other brand I have ever had. I just wish I had bought a Canon a long time ago. Best printer I've owned!!!!

I bought this printer because of the Canon reputation of making a quality product. Over the years, I have owned two Canon AE-1 slrs and two Canon A-1 cameras. Also, I've had several of thier lenses and flashs. They were all superior products in design, quality, dependability and they created wonderful photographs!!!! When I needed a pro quality printer for my digital photos, I turned to this printer. The quality of the prints are better than I've seen from any other printer I have used. Canon PIXMA iP6600D, refurbished

This dedicated photo printer makes some of the most amazing prints I have ever seen. I have printed enough 8 x 10's to fill my entire hallway, and they are alway crisp, clear, and vivid. Teamed with Photoshop 6.0.1, or either Photoshop CS3 (trial), and Windows XP color management applet, I have not had any issues with incorrect colors; everything appears just as it should as judged by my, admitedly old but Adobe gamma corrected, Dell CRT. Just amazing. I could not be more pleased with the product. I think everyone should have one of these if you are serious about making quality prints from digital photo files. Prints JPG or PSD's equally well, but Canon's easy photo print takes all the guess work out of the equation as long as the Window's ICM box is check in the printer preferences. Wow. I am just amazed. Makes my old HP look like a piece of junk, which it was. Oh, and plus the paper and the ink is reasonably priced.Read full review...

Great printer, easy to use and set up.

Excellent photos, good printing, easy set up. Really like the screen on top to preview your photos. Canon is a quality product.
