GREAT camera, lightweight, easy to use, and great image quality

It was way past time to upgrade from my Canon Digital Rebel - first generation... and I'm so glad I did. This Camera has been so fun to use and quite easy to adjust too from my poor old old camera. Easy to use, lighter weight, my lenses still work with the new body, lots of fun new features. A great fit for what I needed.Read full review...

Excellent as full HD webcam

I bought this 800D (same as T7i) camera specifically to use as a high-end full HD webcam with the EOS webcam utility using USB connection directly to host computer. I searched for any Canon EOS series that supported Dual-Pixel Autofocus with live-tracking face-detection that would work well with the Canon EF-series lenses that I already have. This model (which is not the current model) meets all my needs and was available at significant discount compared to the newest T8i model (which has additional features I don't need).

I paired this 800D body with the EF 35mm f/2 IS USM lens (which is equivalent to 50mm on a full-frame body). The face-detection autofocus is better and faster than my 5D IV, or C100 II cinema cameras. It will track all the way to the edges of the image. Silent, fast, perfect focus, continuously, all day long.

I use a dummy-battery with external adapter to power the camera from AC so I don't have to worry about battery life. The touchscreen flips-out and faces forward, automatically flipping the image so I can monitor what the camera sees (with data overlay and focus box).

I am not using the Auto white-balance. There are limited options for custom white balance on this model, but I am using 5200K to match my light-source, and the resulting color, contrast, skin-tones looks really excellent. This looks as good as the 5D IV at 6X lower price!

Audio: When used as a webcam, regardless of whether you connect an external mic or use the built-in mic - note that you will not get audio out of the USB webcam interface, or the HDMI out. So plan on using some other source, connected separately to your host computer for audio. This 800D will only provide the video. If you are looking for "clean" HDMI out, it is only possible to get this by turning-off all menu/info displays, AND switching-off autofocus. If you need the autofocus (the whole point of using the camera), then the HDMI out will have focus overlays. So I would not recommend using this as an HDMI webcam. The EOS Webcam utility over USB works very well, but does have noticeable latency. If you have the ability to delay your audio to the host, then you can get perfect lip-sync, even with the latency of the USB interface.

I have not used this as an everyday DSLR, but I am quite impressed at the nice build-quality, great image quality, and nice compact size. I might consider this as a travel camera instead of the big, heavy 5D in the future.

T7i is a major upgrade!

The T7i is a major update from a Canon T4i! I'm still trying to keep my head above water figuring things out. Spent lot of time. The flash setup and useage is very advanced. Also the capability to send pictures to a larger screen device straight from the camera, be it a notepad, or other device. The higher resolution is very nice, the self-setting automatic features are excellent. I'm still learning it.Read full review...

Excellent product, good value

I upgraded from T3 to the T7i when my old camera died. The repair costs would have exceeded the camera's purchase cost. The newer feature set provides many advantages, not the least being the display screen with the pivot mount. My only adjustment, other than to learn about the new features, was having to give up my group of batteries from the old camera. I did not realize the form factor for the new batteries was slightly smaller and they required a new charger. Other than that one small inconvenience, this has been an excellent purchase.Read full review...

Canon t7i bundle from ebay

Canon t7i bundle from ebay is a perfect way to get started in photography. A great way to save money as well. This camera features 24.2 Megapixel CMOS (APS-C) sensor and DIGIC 7 Image Processor. Good for low light. Really good camera for the money. I love my t7i for its ability to do astrophotography, cleaner images under low light situations.Read full review...

Excellent Canon DSLR, continuin on the legacy started 20 years ago.

A really good crop DSLR! I bought it to replace an older Rebel T1i and frankly, it blew my mind how better this model is. From the swivel 3inch LCD to the better processor, better sensor (24mpx) and truly amazing dynamic range I was lacking with my T1i. The price was on target too as the newer model (T8i) is around 400$ more than what I paid.Read full review...

Fantastic

Haven't used it much too but I am very impressed with it's so far! Great picture quality, low noise, Canon has incredibly accurate colors. Very pleased! To get the same sensor as the 80d for $500 less is a great deal in my opinion!Read full review...

Best beginner DSLR

This is great upgrade to the rebel series. From the 45 points of auto focus to the expanded ISO range, this is by far the best beginner DSLR and arguably the best APS-C. If your just getting started in photography this is the camera for you. The camera doesn't take 4k video, but at 6.0 fps 1080HD it's no slouch and is fully capable of amateur filming. If you have a T6 I dont see a big reason for upgrading to the T7i. If your looking to take the net step you might as well go for the 80D. All that being said I love this camera and the only gripe i have is the body itself. For the money pit into DSLR cameras ALL of them should be weather proof. This camera is not going to handle the elements well, so dont get it wetRead full review...

Phenomenal!!

I'm just a beginner but I've had my hands on a few SLR cameras, and this is BY FAR, the best one I've had my hands on. Easy to use, the video quality is absolutely gorgeous, sound quality is just as awesome. I can't really find a flaw in it other than it only records in 1080p rather than 4k. Still this is an all around great SLR to have especially for entry level. It's a bit pricy but we'll worth it..Read full review...

Easy to use & has helpful on screen tutorials

Great picture quality with the right lens. Love that is has the wifi & bluetooth capabilities. It keeps up with today's every changing technology. Haven't tried the 'filters' but its nice to have them if you want to play around without using photo shop. Works with all the old Canon Rebel series lens. Have used Canon products for decades and very satisfied all those years. I'm just an amateur with a very large family & I seem to end up the designated photographer. Haven't found a good reason to spend more money on a pro line.Read full review...
