Great features and amazing entry-level DSLR.

This is an entry-level DSLR from Canon. It's really easy to use, and comes with lots of great features to help you develop (sorry, couldn't help it) as a photographer. The flip-out screen really helps you understand what you've taken and how the camera works. My only complaint is that only comes in a right-handed version. As a lefty, I have to learn a whole new set of skills on top of learning how to operate the camera itself.Read full review...

Feature packed but super easy to use!

If you were to pick up a Nikon and try and shoot it manual you'd be clouded with confusion, strange buttons and a stranger interface. Canon blasts Nikon out of the water with their ease of use. I was able to jump straight into Manual mode and change settings without even using a DSLR before! 18MP sensor is a great size with larger than 5000x3000 images, about the same size as the newest 1D models. Set it to auto for very easy still and HD video.
Set it to manual and you will have more settings than even a pro will need.
Standard 18-55 lens is a good compliment to start with.
May be a model that is a few years old now, but is well up to the job.

I bought this camera as a lighter weight kit to supplement my 5d.

The camera is quite light weight but feature pack and essentially image quality and handling are both excellent. I find 8 cal walk about and hardly notice the weight. I like shooting with a 24mm prime attached.

Great DSLR camera especially with the touch screen adjustable LCD monitor. Great for taking photos of small plants low to the ground if you can't get yourself right down there. Comes with the 388 page manual which is taking a while to get through. It helps to have someone to give you tips and advice if this is your first digital SLR camera but you can still get some great shots even if you only stick to the auto settings.
