Good enough to be a gift

Bought this copy for my 25 year old son as a gift. Ive been playing it since it came out and he had played some of the earlier versions on console. The video and graphics are outstanding. Mod maps from outside sources have kept the game fresh. Spawn locations can be aggravating at times since they are set by the game not the player. It saddens me to see the tack that Activision is taking against the PC players by refusing to allow server support in the latest version of this game. I just can't fathom a buisness that would turn their backs on a whole class of players and then when that group reacts to that move by cancelling orders and sending e-mails the company refuses to make any concessions or even promise some form of patch to fix the PROBLEM. They obviously did some mysterious form of market research or just flat out think the console market will fill their bank acounts and therefore the PC market is not needed. Regardless the only thing that really pained me about this purchase was that Activision - Dice would be the ones to profit. I sincerely hope they will consider another version for PC gamers with server support. That is all we wanted from the start.Read full review...

Game play is great!!!

This game is very fun to play. It has you firing multiple guns,helicopter platforms and helicopter attack gun ships. Lots of attack dogs in this one (be ready). Captain Price and Soap are again playing along in this game brought forward from Call Of Duty MW 2&3. I am playing the Single campaign on the hard level at the time of this review. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Great single person shooter. Best to play on PC bc quicker pointing action of PC Infra Red mouse rather than game console joysticks(they sucks for this kind of game). I only was able to start playing single person mode on 42 inch LCD. Pick a boo action to left & right side on the corner of a wall. Long range sniper scope action(Wabble around like someone is holding it). Affect of Stun Gernade(when u r near)is interesting. Try going near one sometime when thrown. Not! So lucky u can get hit multiple times & heal back after awhile. A.I. are very good.(Well depend on Level U select) Almost feels like they don't want to die either. U can swap guns from dead bad guys(like AK-47). When Gernade is thrown near ur position, u can find & throw it away again. During fire fights, some of the surrounding breaks apart(like TVs & stuff). Least need 19+ inch Monitor to see well. U have to listen to your fellow soldiers time to time to accomplish ur objective. Example: To the Right! To the Right! (U can't see anything. U only see water coming into the broken ship) Gernade!!!(That's all I heard b4 I died again) This game is very enjoyable first person shooter after get used to the keyboard keys.Read full review...

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare GOTYE PC

I love this game, play it every possible moment online. I haven't really played single player, more of an online person myself. Online multi rocks still plenty of people online 3 years later. Plenty of quality servers to find with great maps and players to play with. Online options are great, even found a program to record my gameplay and post on You Tube!!....
Went with this title over WOW because I am more for the current war games not olden times style war games. Thinking about WOW though.... Definately recommend and call of duty title.Read full review...

A Novice Gamers Review

This is only my second COD game, and as a single player. But I found it very challenging and with a believable combat scenario. It's definitely not "a piece of cake" to complete it. Call of Duty 4 : Modern Warfare may be old but the fun is still there!

I bought this product as the gaming clan I belong to set up a server to play COD 4. It is an older game but not that hard to find online. Love the game play, I had always played COD World at War and this game is in a similar vein. Not overly taxing on an older computer and there are a ton of after-market mods and maps available.

Right now I'm playing Battlefield 3 (have been for several months), and actually it compares well. The action is similar as far as modern weapons and it really is a great addition to your multi-player collection. Where BF3 is a resource hog, COD 4 just hums along, great for a small group of friends to get together and play.

Not much to dislike, great action, fun single-player mode and the multi-player is great fun. What's not to like?Read full review...

Addicting Gameplay

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is the type of game that will keep you entertained for hours. The single player mode has an interesting store where you play for both the British and American forces and join forces in the end to get rid of the enemy. Graphics are very detailed even for its time. It runs flawlessly with an Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT. The real beauty of this game comes in the multiplayer mode, where you can test your skills against the best players in the world. Just choose your map, preferred weapon, and hope to stay alive. GREAT GAME FOR PS3 NOT ON PC

This is a great game to play either in single player mode or multi on-line play. I use it on my PS3 and wanted one for my PC but after days and hours of trying to get it to work and with the crappy help from "Activision" I wish I could get my money back. As for the hepl from the maker "Activision" ...they suck!

It's a shame that the single-player is so brief, but you should only skip out on Call of Duty 4 if you're the sort of person who doesn't appreciate great first-person shooter multiplayer.
