Neat little LED's

I bought these to create a lighting effect for a friend. After some initial testing I think they will be perfect. The fast cycling LED's fall out of sync pretty quickly, but that is the effect I am looking for. The slow cycling LED's take more time. If you are looking for a more "random" color pattern, the long cycling ones take longer to get there. The specs on these are somewhat dubious. stating a Vf of 3 to 3.2V. I am running series strings of 5 of them off of a regulated 15V power supply. I was going to put a 100 ohm resistor in series with each string for a bit of current limiting but I found a spool of 580 ohm resistors first. Even with one of these in series they are still very bright and cycle perfectly. In fact I have more like 2K in series with each string now and they are still bright and cycle. I may see how they do with 6 LED's in a string. If you are looking for a simple color changing LED for a device, these are just the ticket.
