One of the most entertaining and innovative TV shows ever to hit the airwaves. Inspiration rooted in pure fantasy fed by myth, superstition and religious overtones, Joss Whedon created a reluctant female superhero that is a role model to all who persevere in the face of reluctance and adversity.

Magnificently scripted to capture an era, it revels in puns and innuendo with deadpan delivery that should be the envy of any comic actors of the day. Our hero Buffy, deliciously brought to life by Sarah Michelle Gellar, takes on the burdens of the world on good days and bad, often emerging triumphant while paying a heartwrenching emotional price. A masterful web of intricate characters interacts so perfectly regardless of the absurdity of the moment, and tells a story of how people in real life really are, and how friends can mean so much more than friendships . The character studies are impeccable, and the subject matters are psychologically revealing without the show losing an entertaining beat. The episode "Hush" should go down as one of the most memorable shows in television history.

The Chosen One Moves To Sunnydale

Pleasantly surprised by the first season after seeing the movie I didn't think the show would be too deep. Buffy moves to Sunnydale with her mom Joyce after being kicked out of school in Los Angeles. She immediately meets her new watcher, Rupert Giles, hunky vampire with a soul, Angel and starts battling demons and vamps where she left. The villain of the first season is The Master, one of the oldest living vampires in the world. The stories are well structured with sharp, funny dialogue and each character really stands out on their own. It's fun to see a female action star for once. Whedon's a Good Director

I was surprised by that Sarah Michelle Gellar was a bit puggie in the 1st year of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She always had good moves. . and must have worked out a lot. I always enjoy Joss Whedon's humor as these high school students fight evil. Read full review...

I'll never say a bad thing about Buffy again!

I've spent a lot of time making fun of Buffy fans, thinking it was all a fluke that would not even be remembered a few years after the show went off the air. I was SO wrong!

Buffy is the Chosen One, the Vampire Slayer who moves to Sunnydale, CA. She makes new friends, Xander and Willow, and along with her Watcher, she fights off evil, vampires, demons and an insect-teacher. The episodes draw on history, old folklore, mythology and ancient religions.

This show is awesome! Not only is the story entertaining, humorous, and unique, but the special effects are really great too. Dialogue goes really well with the storyline, and Buffy and her friends are able to thow in a lot of really good one-liners. This show is as addictive as it is funny.

Like I said, I was ready to be really dissapointed with the show, and as it turns out, I had bought all seven seasons in less than a month. This show would appeal to all ages.Read full review...

IT'S NOT TO LATE TO BECOME A FAN!!

am a huge Buffy fan and it all started here! These DVD sets feature special features, also look for the Buffy symbol "B" to access more hidden features on the DVD's. Season one introduces you to all the essential chracters such as Buffy, Giles, Cordelia, Willow, Angel (oh my too hot!!) and Xander (also very hot in the first few seasons, Anya ruined him!) Once you begin watching and catching the storyline and yes, there is a lot of plots and sub-plots, you will become hooked not to mention that things that happen this first season may still be brought back again later in seasons to follow! So pay attention! LOL See the first trials and tribulations of our heroin and the beginning of the Buffy/Angel love affair! This first season is a MUST have....become and new fan, it is not too late to start and see what the rage is all about!Read full review...

I've always been in love with Buffy the Vampire Slayer since day one. However I really wish they had put more bonus features in Season 1. The first couple of seasons of Buffy are so creative. Joss Whedon's movie didn't take a bite out of the box office but the show was worth it.Sarah Michelle Gellar plays young Buffy Summers that finds out she is a vampire slayer.This item has 12 butt kicking episodes of action and horror.From Wellcome to to the Hellmouth to Prophacy Girl buffy S1 is great.12 episodes on 3 disc is really cool.I of course i wanted it to be longer because i love this show.Willow,Xander,Cordelia,and mysterious Angel make the show get heated up with romance.This would make a great Christmas or birthday gift for a buffy beginner.Happy Shopping!!!Read full review...

I like Buffy season 1 because it sets the scene for future seasons. It has lots of action, likable characters, and a good plot. It brings Angel, a mysterious vampire with a soul, into the picture.
