Blow Dry took me into the world of competitive hair design that mymother had tried back in the 1960's. She didn't have the ego for it, but actors do!

Rickman could play anything from wizards to villians to spooky lovers. so I was impressed that he tackled being a professional hair stylist in competition with his nemesis played superbly by Bill Nighy. I don't know how many hours these actors spent with scissors and hairspray or if those were actually their hands doing the exotic styles, but the photography detail work was superb.Read full review...

On the par with "The Full Monty" and "Calendar Girls"

I saw it many years ago and remembered that I really enjoyed it then. Somewhat of a Romance with the Son and Daughter of to former competitors falling in Love which is minor to the Contest that happens in this small English town and all the big stylists from London now have to travel to compete. Major story is about the former champions who were married and now haven't talked to each other in ten years coming together to win the contest over the pair that trys to fix the contest. The extras on the DVD explains alot about how the actors prepaired for the shoot and especially some of the secrets of the competitors. It is funny but will give you a tear also.
