Good Phone but WIFI does not work w/o Data Plan
Very good phone for my wife, she just wants to use it as a phone and she just liked the look. I will not buy it for myself just becase the internet browser does not work without the Data Plan. RIM BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 (Unlocked)
I already had this phone but was locked to T-Mobile. It is a great phone with features that are too numerous to mention. My favorites are WiFi,Blackberry AppWorld,E-Mail,Camera,SMS,MMS,Voicenotes,Music Player,Video Camera,Voice Dialing,GPS Tethering,Password Lockable,Internet Browser,Alarm Clock,Built in office type apps,Qwerty Keyboard,Expandable memory card,all in a flip style phone with Trackball control.If you want a touch screen this phone is NOT for you.But I can't type on those things.This phone is perfect for big fingers. It's surprisingly tough as well. Plenty of accessories available such as "skins" and "armor".I have clear plastic snap on "armor" on mine that makes it droppable with zero damage.That along with a leather sheath makes it as tough as jobsite grade phones.Think Nextell. Think twice before buying.
Before I bought this phone, I looked at reviews here and at phonescoop.com and both had vastly positive reviews, which is why I bought this phone.
Actually I bought two- the first one was advertised as unlocked- but wasn't.
This second one was a replacement for the one that wouldn't charge. Now I find the battery either holds a charge for 3 days or dies within four hours.
The features are NOT easy to negotiate and the camera leaves a lot to be desired.
I cannot say how disappointed I am in this phones lack of usability. If you are out of sight of a cell tower you get a red 505 where your signal strength should be and marginal communication otherwise.

Phone was great just as described. Until 2-3 weeks into use the phone died.
When I found this posting I thought it was my lucky day. All I've wanted since my last Pearl broke was to get a Pearl Flip, but I have a contract with AT&T. So naturally I started looking for Pearl Flips that could be used with AT&T. After checking the specs and seeing how cheap, I thought "This is too good to be true!". Usually when you think something like that, go with that initial feeling. Once I made the purchase the delivery was prompt and faster than I expected. The package came with everything described in the information. After about 2-3 weeks of use and falling BACK in love with the Pearl, except now in it's sexy Flip form, the phone randomly stopped working altogether. Left the room, came back and now it won't start, take a charge, nothing. I've switched batteries, plugged it in multiple sources, it's just dead. Best of both worlds!
When my Pearl died after three years of hard use I was torn ... I knew I wanted to stick with Blackberry. I ordered a Curve and the Pearl Flip ... in just minutes I knew the Pearl Flip was the smartphone for me! The Curve never made it out of the box.
This phone is everything I ever liked best about my old Motorola Razor and my Blackberry Pearl. Clam shell talking ease, no more butt dials and all the features of the Blackberry I love. Comfortable in my hand, fits in my pocket or purse with ease without adding a ton of weight or bulk.

Speed, handy interface, long battary and, user-friendly menu, and style
Quite a complicated phone, but quickly mastered and pleasant to use. Very handy joystick, and fast Internet access. Blatskberry generally very nice phones released.This is no exception.

Blackberry Pearl Flip 8220
This is the 2nd Pearl flip I've owned, but I'm very pleased with this phone. It can do just about anything you would ever want, including MMS and SMS text, email from multiple accounts, internet, music player, memo's, calender, you name it and it can do it! The only thing it is missing is GPS, but I have a garmin for that. So all in all I'm extremely pleased with this item!Read full review...

I think this is one of the best bb there are, even its simple in its function its very good appereance and its very functional and easy to use, the wifi feature its very helpful if you dont have a data plan and the memory is enough for photos and ringtones.
