Cheap, overpriced garbage

Cheap plastic pieces and a cardboard board are not worth $15. And while I know it's billed as mini, I still had hoped it would either be a decent enough size for enjoyable play or arranged in such a way as to be usable as a travel set. Neither of these hopes were realized. For comparison, I purchased equivalently priced sets of both Xiangqi and chess at the same time and received nice, good sized, professional quality sets for the same or lower. Mini sets of either are about $3-5 and are optimized for travel play with magnets or equivalent to keep the pieces from moving. Why this set, which offered no such features, was made miniature shall remain forever a mystery. If this was a $5 set my review would be much kinder, since I wouldn't expect much, but for a $15 set this can only be described as a ripoff. My hunt for a decent Shogi set continues.Read full review...
