However this was not true. A real Apple TV 2 is able to be jail broke and this one is not! This is a 3rd gen. This is useless to me. Needless to say I am not happy and never would have bought if it wasn’t a 2nd gen....

Adequate performance for intended use w/good cost for technically inclined.

Good product for primary purpose of "jailbreaking" Apple's restriction(s) of use to include XBMC, local media streaming, etc.

Somewhat complicated to modify w/o technical experience but less expensive than other options/offers available.

Product did not come with Remote and/or power cable which are available from Apple Store or Big Box, but somewhat inconvient.
Apple TV2 is limited to 720P vs Apple TV3, however as of yet, there is no way to modify and extend abilities of ATV3.Read full review...

Excellent product for what it was designed

I bought an apple tv (2ng gen) because I have an iPad and an iPhone in addition to running iTunes on a mac. Apple makes watching or listening to your content from any of those devices seamless with the apple tv, which is both useful and nice.

It is quiet and much cooler than the previous version which used to create an oven in my entrainment center... Now it is cool as ever.

I cannot think of a different device that does what apple tv does, with iTunes at least. So, in my opinion, it is worth the price. The picture is clear and even streaming HD content comes through very good in quality.Read full review...

Simple interface, reliable, almost perfect

I have purchase 3 Apple TVs, 1 of gen 1 and 2 of the new Apple TV. The new version is so much better! The picture quality is great and the connectivity to my HDTV is wonderful. The only gripe I have is that there is no support for HULU, bummer.

The only other HDTV has a computer connected so that we can watch HULU, as well as any other Internet content. It has been a challenge to my wife to deal with the browser issues on the computer, no complaints on using the Apple TV.Read full review...

the Apple TV (2nd Generation) while you have your Apple TV open and you’re installing a new hard drive or just following along with the people over at SomethingAwful.com forums to get Xvid working, you might as well un-break SSH so you can access the Apple TV remotely.

ATV2 is a Fantastic item! Worth the investment for quality entertainment!

PROS:
As far as the ATV2 is concerned, I am HAPPY with it but am still learning all the Ins and Outs of operating it. many up to date (and currently out) movies...great DVD selections. Wonderful TV viewing ,( current and past episodes) haven't tried the music or photos yet. It seems like there is nothing you can't do with this ATV2 once you master it's operation. HIGHLY RECOMMEND getting one if you like movies and good TV viewing!

CONS:
muffled conversation at times, some buffering problems... Would be NICE to have closed Captioning feature! would be great to have DETAILED written operating instructions, rather than playing around with it to figure it out,

Apple TV

After using a USB wireless drive to get internet on my TV, it was clear to me that the slow speed of the USB drive wasn't going to be enough for me. I looked on the internet for items similar to the roku box. The apple TV was extremely easy to set up and use. I just had to plug in the HDMI and power cables. Hard to set any new add-ons to it almost impossible I think if you can at all

Very nice product you just can't add any add-ons to it at least I don't think you can and everything else you gotta pay for you don't get no free channels or nothing, which sucks

I mostly use it for Netflix but it’s great to also access many other apps (crave, etc) and love that I can control it with my iPhone.

Great little device if you have an I Phone, I Pod, etc. Send display to tv. Even if you do not have these, a good option to watch Netflix. and other stations.
