Excellent Hard Drive

Yes, excellent hard drive. Battery on the way out, though. Doesn't hold its charge for more than a day. My other ipod - another ebay purchase, same model and vintage - goes for 3 days before needing a charge. Still, this one was a good buy for the money and I am pleased with all aspects of the purchase. Replacement batteries are still available and relatively cheap though I have yet to crack one of these babies open to perfom the required swap out surgery. These older ipods are becoming collectors items and I wouldn't be without one!Read full review...

One of two iPods was faulty and was unable to properly load the music. A defective device.

One for two on this purchase, very disappointed but due to the price of buying second hand versus new, I have not been driven off eBay yet.

Apple IiPod 80GB Classic/Video

I bought this 80GB iPod as a refurbished unit and so far have no complaints other than a minor scratch on a corner of the screen; thankfully it is not very visible when viewing movies or videos. It works great but when I use the unit in the gym in a case with a plastic face, the scroll wheel is not easy to use. I think that scroll wheel could be enhanced to be more sensitive or add a setting to sensitize it when placed in a case. I have always purchased all the tech toys and have been putting this toy to the test. I have copied over 800 songs, multiple videos, pictures and movies; and have not reached 10GB of use yet. The sound generated is very good and the picture quality of movies on this unit is amazing. The unit looks good and feels sturdy although I am not too fond of the stainless steel back. How about a titanium version for $50 or $100 bucks more?

One thing I miss is the FM radio from my previous MP3 player. Since the Sony Walkman is no longer the music toy of choice I would have expected Apple to really try to dominate this market segment with a Super iPod but I guess Steven Jobs has not hired bright enough people yet.

My biggest compliant is that I cannot understand why Apple being such an image conscience company insists on making the cables and headphones white. Are the designers color blind or can’t they just get past announcing to the world that users with white headphones are carrying an iPod. This obvious feature can cause the owner to be become a victim of a robbery in an urban area, a bus or train, or a shopping mall anywhere. So Apple if you read these reviews, ‘WAKE UP’ you would sell more of these if they were not so visible to the criminal element. Maybe design unique headsets like Skull Candy Ink’d or Vibe Red Roxx and charge a premium for this extra feature.

So despite the ranting, I am a satisfied iPod user and would recommend this seller to other buyers; I got exactly what they said I would get.

Apple IPod classic, 80 gb

I really really did not want to get this mp3 player. I have-until I sell it on ebay-a Creative Zen Vision M which is great. However, my all family now has apple units and it makes it more difficult to move music back and forth and then we had incompatible portable sound docks. I also was finding it increasingly frustrating to remember to use two different systems and hardware-forgot to mention that I have the Ipod nano strictly for exercise. I hate a few things about the Ipod-I cannot move music from the handheld to the desktop/itunes library and when my system crashed, I was glad to have all my music on the Creative to easily load it again. I hate the "apple or nothing" proprietary way with apple. I wish it had a radio like the Creative does. I do like the clarity of the screen though the Creative is better. I think the click wheel is superior to the Zen vision M and makes searching for music and using it a joy. Itunes also, for some strange reason, to load much much faster on the desktop than the Creative softward and has given me far fewer problems. I think Apple has enjoyed great success due it's marketing strategy and advertising. All the reviews I read before buying the Zen vision M rated it a better product and I hate to just "follow the trend" Overall, am I happier? too soon to tell but it's great to have one sounddock in the kitchen we can all use.Read full review...

Get a fair price and this is a good value!

iPod classic 80Gb is a great MP3 player with a decent balance of cost vs. capacity right now. The 30Gb versions have less than half the memory but you'll pay a lot more than half of what you would for the 80Gb. 160Gb versions still go for double the price, so why not just buy 2 80Gb iPods?

The purpose of mine will be only for the car - I have an older audio deck that has iPod audio and video connectivity and it works well. I've had some intermittent issues with tracks stopping short and skipping to the next track, and it has frozen up once. It's easy to reset a frozen iPod without erasing its memory so it's not really a problem, just a concern.

Since its new home is the glove compartment I didn't mind buying one all scratched up. It seems to have had a rough life with deep scratches apparently resulting from some serious drops. I've already dropped it a couple times myself. Amazing how the little hard drive in there keeps going and going, and the display didn't crack!

Ipod Classic (from a real PMP user)

The iPod classic is a decent video player in it's own respect, but the sound quality is pretty bad for a player of it's size and prestige. I would expect more from apple in that, but since I'm only using this for the snowboarding season, it'll pass.

Many features were left out that really make it a more interesting product, such as radio, voice recorder, speaker, etc. and although many add-ons fix this, they require a lot of space and make the ipod very unwieldy. Another thing I don't really enjoy is the back cover. While it makes it very pretty when you first get it new, it very quickly becomes scratched. I now have a case, but within 2 days it already looks like I've had it for months.

On the other side, It does look very cool with a fluid interface (if stolen from creative). The click wheel is alright, although with a large music collection selecting a certain song can be difficult. There are many accessories (like stated) and cases that can make the mp3 player very customizable. It has a huge support community, and most (if not all) problems have an answer online, and a complete guide to go with it.

Over all: While I don't regret buying it for it's purpose, the iPod classic is more of a fashion statement with mediocre performance than a real Portable Media Player or. For the teenager who cares more abut looks than anything, a good buy.

IPOD 80gb CLASSIC MEETS MOST OF MY EXPECTATIONS

Bought this unit because of it's hard drive size. My objective was to put my entire CD collection on the iPod...which is 400 CDs currently, plus to have the capability of adding many more CDs in the future. I concluded that this was the right unit for me, and it has met my expectations.
iTunes is easy to use and this iPod is easy to use. No major complaints but the only small things I do not like:
- does not come with wall charger
- with 400 CDs on the iPod, it's very difficult to navigate through all the albums. The clickwheel is nice, but when there are 400 CDs, it's cumbersome to navigate through the albums. Takes a while to get from AC/DC to YES. Holding one button to scroll forward or backward would have been easier than the click wheel if you have several hundred CDs and artists.
- Syncing with iTunes take a long time once you have this many CDs on it. If I add one new CD/album to the iTunes library, and perform a sync to get that one new album onto the iPod, it takes a very long time.
- It has video capability, so I guessed (and I thought this was a reasonable expectation) that I would be able to add some DVDs to the video collection similarly to how I can upload my existing CDs. This is not the case. It's not possible to upload your DVDs to the unit, at least not with the Apple software. I believe there is some third party software that can assist in converting DVD files to files that are useable on the iPod, but my expectation was that this would capability would be in the box.
- The cover flow feature is nice, but cover art is not available for nearly half of my existing CDs. For example, I cannot get the cover art for any AC/DC albums.
- Has an equalizer (EQ) feature but it is not customizable. You can only select from about a dozen preset EQ configurations.
- For me, it was realitively easy to use after a couple hours. But for some people that are not high tech, the whole system (iTunes and iPod) may be too cumbersome. I can see the potential to have the system returned by some because it's too complicated.
- Of course, you really need a high powered PC and internet service for it to work easily. A friend of mine had still been using cheap dial up internet (which was a good choice for him for what he used it for), and he chose to get an iPod. Essentially, it's impossible to use with dial up. For example, the iTunes software does not come in the box. You need to download it from the iTunes website. With my friend's dial up service, this download took like 5 hours. Yet, he still liked the idea of the iPod so much, that he decided to finally upgrade to DSL. At the end of the day he is happy, but now he is paying an extra $20/month for DSL just for his iPod use.

Older style suits me

Love this ipod. I had a 30 GB for years, just ran out of room on the thing. Only problem I have wit this newer version is that the "shuffle" feature only works intermittently. When shutting off the car and starting again, the ipod no longer shuffles the songs, even after I go to settings and program it to shuffle songs. Never had that problem with my older model.Read full review...

Title was accurate

The iPod was as listed, new in the box. The 80 gb of space may seem so much smaller than its 120 gb brother, but it's an enormous amount of space for music and movies. I've put almost half of my music from my PC and about 1/4 of the CD's I own on it already and I'm not even over 15gb used yet. The iPod is very easy to use and the software is simple, even if you've only seen a friend use it a few times. My only complaint is that the chromed back of the iPod seems to scuff and scratch quite easily... and I have so many options of what to listen to, I spend more time contemplating than actually listening to music!Read full review...

Great storage space

Good old school product with plenty of room for music, videos, pictures etc...Too bad there’s not one with WiFi capability so music obtained from Apple Music service could play on the device.

Ipod is great to hear music.

You have alots of alboums in your room?
Dont have time to hear all of them?
Find it difficult to change disks all the times?
Well iPod is the best soultion for all thoose problems.
He can storage a huge amount of songs, and the interface is amazing.
With the coverflaw feature its easier then ever to browse the alboums , and it looks amazing.
Moreover , the iPod looks great ,easy to operate and the music sound is amazing.

And now for some Cons:

Itunes..
a very sensitive product.
Does not come with AC charger.
Small screen (Not the best choise to see movies in the bus.)
He doesnt support FLAC.

To conclude, in my opinion iPod is the best product for music.
