Longtime Windows user is loving the Macbook Pro.

I've been a Windows user since 3.1 and started a new job where I was using a Mac Mini every day at work. I really did not like the OS for a couple of weeks until I figured out where everything was at. Once I became accustomed to the OS, I started looking at Macbooks as I was in the market for a new laptop. One of the things that really sold me on the Macbook was the ability to run a bootcamp Windows setup. I was looking at used Macbooks because I do not feel that they are worth their price new, but for the price I paid for this used, it's worth every penny. My old laptop was an Asus with a 1.8 dual core AMD and 4GB max memory running Win 7 64 bit which I upgraded from its original Vista 32 bit. It had a pretty good video card (512MB dedicated Radeon) but battery life was horrible and it was annoyingly loud because the fan was constantly spinning at full speed. It was so loud that you could hear it from the next room. So I picked up this Macbook Pro and gave my old laptop to my mom as it's got way more power than she will ever need. I am really loving this MBP. The battery life is incredible to the point that I wonder how it's even possible to last this long on a charge. It is also whisper-quiet which is really nice compared to that Asus. No longer do I have to crank up my TV five more notches when the laptop is powered on in the same room. The 2.53ghz dual core is plenty fast and it came with 4GB of memory but I immediately upgraded to 8GB. This thing honestly is overkill for what I am using it for. I will be upgrading to a bigger hard drive as I'm going to eventually need more than the 250GB drive that it came with, so I plan on going with a 750GB hybrid drive and doing a bootcamp Win 8 setup (which I am also using at work and have become accustomed to... trust me, it's not as bad as people say, it's a worthy upgrade from Win 7). Once I get my bigger HD and bootcamp setup I feel this laptop will last me several years before I feel the need to upgrade to something else.Read full review...

Respect Apple!!!

This machine is awesome!!! It is by far the better system when PC and Mac are compared. This is so compact and sleek & light weight. Great casing. The clarity and visibility of screen is an added bonus. The battery life is very good. I use this primarily for home use, but I also run a lot video editing programs and such... handles very well! I am at a lost for words. I am former PC user, I feel kind of silly for not switching earlier. To live is to learn! The only areas where I would say that apple missed the mark would be PRICE; it is a bit costly, but shop around. The volume on these machines are not very loud, but not a nuisance either. I know I am not very technical, but I hope this helps. Enjoy!!!!!Read full review...

Apple Macbook Pro Tops Them All - Again!!

As a diehard Apple user for over 20 years, I must say they just keep getting better. I've owned just about everyone made since 85 and can't remember having a hardware problem with any. Sure they cost more - AND YOU DO GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR. Apple has the same market share as BMW and Mercedes do in the automotive industry and like those manufacturers, they always lead the pack in innovation and quality. If your looking for a $400 laptop or PC, grab your self a Chevy!!Read full review...

I love my mac.

Aah, the Macbook Pro 15" laptop. What's not to love?
I migrated to the macbook years ago with my first Macbook 13" and loved it. When I was ready to upgrade, this Macbook Pro was my choice. It is an awesome computer. The lcd screen is beautiful and clear and such colors! It is lightweight, powerful with an Intel Core 2 duo 2.66g processor, and lots of hard drive storage. The battery runs about 6 hours. Because Apple makes the hardware, the operating system and many applications the macbook is truly an integrated system.Read full review...

excellent condition, great buy

pretty good piece of hardware for an apple. bought it for collage not looking for anything crazy or too expensive saw this one and was satisfied with the specs and price. came in wonderful condition (some scratches on the bottom from previous use) no dents, no wear on the screen. To be real there was no real show of use except for the bottom almost brand new. booted up in OSX 10.8 mountain lion. wiped it and put snow leopard back on then updated to 10.7 lion and now use it for college. I thank the buyer for the excellent condition the macbook was in and original box and packaging along with external disc drive. pretty good for an apple product.Read full review...

Transition from my work station to anywhere, while retaining capability

I bought this computer for work, and that is what a macbook pro does best. I am a Writers Asst. to an Emeritus Professor, as such I write and review many differing aspects of motion picture, graphics and cinema. From short films to epics I seek out micro gestures to grandiose dialogue.
With this powerful machine I can study movement, sound and image. I can easily manipulate motion image clips with sound and attach them to documents. I have plenty of memory to edit video and house software to manipulate graphic effect. All this as well as the basic software one would expect with any computer, word processing, spreadsheets, pdf, presentation and book writing, all free-flowing through a processor powerful enough to deliver the desktop experience of multi-software operation, on a portable laptop. Did I mention an 8hr + battery life.

The multi touch track pad takes some getting used to, especially when manipulating a scroll bar.

This laptop exudes quality and refined sophistication when compared with other high end laptops.

A total laptop replacement instead of replacing the motherboard on old one.

Very clean and like new. I opted to buy this used mid-2009 15" Macbook Pro to replace my late 2008 Unibody Macbook Pro that came down with a fried motherboard. Instead of replacing the motherboard on the late 2008 Unibody, I decided to opt for the total laptop replacement. I did not do all of my homework which only allowed me to be pleasantly surprised with the pluses of this mid-2009 Unibody laptop. The graphics card has 512 MBs of video memory. The laptop has a built in SD card slot. I know longer have to take my USB SD Card Reader with me anymore. This laptop turned out to be a great value and I was able to move my 1TB hard drive from my fried 2008 Unibody laptop to this new 2009 Unibody and I was able to move the high quality OWC DDR3 8GBs of RAM from the old and swap it into the new. Over all, this used-like-new laptop turned out to be a great value. Another plus of buying this newer used 2009 unibody, instead of repairing my 2008, is the mammoth battery life of the imbedded battery. Even though it is a used machine, I almost get the full 7 hours per charge that Apple promises.Read full review...

Like a new Mac at two year old price.

I could have spent much less money for a brand new PC based laptop with performance specs well above this two year old machine but it wouldn't be a Mac. The aluminum uni-body case is sleek, light and strong. No one makes a case anything like it. The battery time is fantastic and I'm able to use the laptop for many hours before having to plug in (and the plug is a mag-safe magnetic connection so you can't yank the computer off your desk by tripping over the cord). The LED backlit screen is super bright and sharp and contributes to the longer battery life. The Mac is well suited for upgrade to OSX 10.7 Lion with all it's gesture based controls. This model is the first one to feature a built in SD card slot. The bottom of the case gets warm after CPU intensive use but nowhere near as hot as my old G4 based PowerBook. No app or media playback can bog down this dual core possessor. I have it setup as a dual start up with Mac OS and PC Windows XP partitions. With a 320 gb hard drive there is plenty of room to do this. All in all, this laptop is very little different with Apple's current models in everyday use.Read full review...
