Caveat emptor

The mac is solid, sturdy and well built. It functions smoothly and was easy to learn. However I did not know that it needed to be the 10.12 version of mac os in order to run Office. I think that was a very important piece of info that was left out of the product details. Now i have to soend additional money to upgrade the os. Ended up not being a savingsRead full review...

Best laptop I have ever used or owned, I smile every time I look at it.

I needed a MacBook Pro for Video editing and production and this machine is a Beast!!! I can use Final Cut and Dreamweaver at the same time with no problems. This computer with all the programs included would have been well over $3,000 plus, but I got it at a fraction of the cost. But honestly it's worth paying $5000 for it. I couldn't be more pleased with the product, I can use 3 major programs running large files all at once and there is never a delay, very easy to use and overall nothing beats a Mac period. Screen quality is great, beautiful design and the creative capabilities are endless with this machine. I've had Sony Vaios, Dells, HP's you name it, but Macbook Pro supersedes any laptop on the market. Prices are more than other brands but trust me it's well worth the money. Anything of value never comes free or cheap, as the saying goes you "get what you pay for". So if you want the best make the sacrifice and pay for it, you wont be sorry.Read full review...

MacBook Pro Summer 2009 edition

Made from a solid block of aluminum, heat is spread into the frame to keep the internal components running cool. Solid construction and a good blend of power, the MacBook Pro series laptop will suit the needs of anyone save for a hardcore gamer. While no longer the most current version of the MBP, due to the latest refresh from Apple, this model (Summer '09) is well priced for it's construction and the use it can provide. Using BootCamp, you can install Windows or Linux of any flavor to make this notebook accomidate your needs. With a built in SD (high capacity) card reader, USB2 and Firewire 800 ports, the 15 inch MacBook Pro (MBP) is up for the task.
It lacks blueray support, Light Peak, USB3, PCMCIA, Express Card slots, ESATA and similar things found on many new laptops but its solid construction and powerful Nvidia chipset make it fantastic for nearly ALL computing needs. With a 7 hour battery (4-5 in Vista and 5-6 in Windows7), it's a road warrior capable of long trips away from a socket. With many adaptors, the mini video jack can compliment your every video display need. VGA, DVI or HDMI, there's an adaptor for that. I've taken MacBooks to the beach, mountain climbing and carried it under my arm in a snow storm. The unibody design helps to resist sand, dust and similar particles. The body won't warp, crack or split from humidity because it's all one block. It's the most recyclable design to date, leaving the smallest carbon footprint. Running with DDR3 ram, this laptop is fast to load up programs. It's hard to find fault in the MacBook Pro design. If you can find one for a great price then you're getting a great buy.

Can't leave home or the room without it!

Best thing since sliced bread! Fast, lightweight an styling. It doesn't get hot like most laptops, so I use it on my lap. "New" track pad is awesome. I thought I'd want a mouse to use with it but I don't. I will for editing photos or a graphics tablet instead.
A few things are to find but it is impressing my PC gamer/geek boyfriend, which is a hard thing to do. I haven't played any games on it but I'll test that when I have time (in my next life time that is).
Love the screen and being able to adjust it according to light, an it can be tipped many degrees so you can see no matter what position your sitting.
Battery life is very good so far, but I can't say for how long exactly yet. Only did a 5 hr stint and still had 39% battery life left. So it probably does give you 7 hours. Still playing with the extra (i)software it comes with, but they really aren't necessary.
If you can afford one ... go for it.

Its a good product good value for money

Bought this Laptop just over 2 months ago (Aug-22-13), hence I took my time to get to know the in's and outs... That said for a 4 year old computer it is surprisingly reliable, coming from the PC I was keen on seeing what the hype about these computers was all about especially since I never took to any of Apple's other products (this would be my first) At first glance the design is quite nice very simple yet chic, The back-light feature on the keyboard is very interesting, found my self covering the camera even in mid day just to see the glow :D, the speakers are really quite nice and play very smooth even when I set VLC volume to 200, The screen of course is something else, Considering the fact that I am a photographer, web developer as well as a graphic artist It is nice to see all my work in such vibrant colours.

On the flip side of all this one of the main things that can get to be a bother is the hand rest its very nice and spacious however as well documented the edges of the body can really put the hurt on, there is also the matter of heat and aluminium considering that I'm always on the move a cooling pad would be a bit cumbersome, so even though it pains me at times I find it hard to put this baby down :)

Considering that I was never, ever... ever a fan of Apple products, always thought they were grossly overpriced not that they aren't made from good materials (which cost money), ok I think I may have had that wrong... But a direct comparison pound for pound the MacBook Pro is really a steal if you can get it at a good enough price...

N.B. There was an error in the sellers listing my MacBook is actually the Late October 2008 model and not the June 2009, however outside of the bottom plate and removable battery factor between both machines, not much difference to mention

Amazing computer, but on the heavy side.

This is a great computer. It is fast and really easy to use. The screen size is good and the picture is amazing. The only downside is that it is pretty heavy, if you are concerned with the weight you should get a MacBook Air .Read full review...

MacBook

Great value for a MacBook. Only complaint is that the battery is not very good. It will randomly jump down to 4% from about 40%.
