Outstanding Upgrade Performance
Traditionally, it is perceived that AMD CPU's are inferior to Intel chips. That perception is not necessarily true and this CPU proves it. Performance in a well designed AMD based logic board computer is blazingly fast. Having long since abandoned Microsofy Windows for Linux GNU/Debian, the difference between my wife's Intel-based i5Core and my Phenom II x2 is eye opening; with the Phenom II running rings around the Intel. My wife's HP Pavilian Slimline and my HP Pavilian Slimline, both comparitively equipped (RAM, video, etc), both came with Windows, mine was still slightly faster. Switching over to Linux, my Phenom II became demonstratively faster, both in boot time and in operation., Sure, the chamge in OS does impact comparisons, but overall the Phenom II is well worth the investment reqardless of the OS or the configuration of the computer system into which it is being installed.Read full review...
