Can there be anything other than "A Bug's Life"

I remember seeing for the first time in a movie theater in Pennsylvania and my great nephew and I were utterly just wowed over. I loved that this was a much better story line and animation than that other bug movie that was out there. Disney's portrayal of these insect's in their everyday life was more than I could fathom possible. The character's fit their individual role to the tee, and only Disney Animation could have pulled this off unlike some other studio I won't mention. I truly loved the story lone along with the multi faceted animation characters that just made this movie come to real life making me think that I was one of them. This was as always Disney at not only it's best, but above and beyond that. Good for older kids, DVD version is ad/preview-free!

This is a good movie, typical good/evil movie for not-so-young kids. There are some scary scenes with the nasty grasshoppers, bullying, and bird attacks, so that will scare younger children (probably 7). but otherwise, the message is pretty clear. I do agree with other users the use of language ("you're stupid", "I'll kill you" etc) is not desirable for very young children, especially if they were not exposed to such language (our kids are relatively sheltered from violence and bullying videos. I allowed my 7yr old watch is since he saw it at school already, but probably will prevent the 4yr old from watching it for a little while longer).

I do want to comment on this DVD/Blu-ray combination though. Unlike most of the regualr kid's DVD where they force you to watch all the previews and other advertisements and not allow you to skip them, this Bugs Life DVD starts the movie as soon as you put the disk in the player (well, it does have the FBI warning and the THX short, but that's ok). I LOVED this. I just absolutely detest other Disney and children's DVDs that load up front with all the advertisements and previews and I have to keep either fast forwarding or chapter skip each one since it won't let me bypass it all by hitting "Menu". I've gotten irritated with many enough that I've ripped and re-burned the DVD on many of my children's favorites so when I insert the DVD in the player it will start playing the movie immediately. With this Bugs Life DVD, I won't have to do that, so I'm very happy.

I haven't watched the Blu-ray version yet, so I presume all the ads were put in the Blu-ray disk and kept the DVD version free of ads and previews. I can deal with that.Read full review...

Replaced my scratched DVD with this!

This is a bright and uplifting film. Our copy had sustained damage and I wanted to have a copy. It's not currently out for resale so this was an excellent option! Great product and speedy shipping.
