Seems like a good idea to have a spare tire.
It was brand new old stock. I hope I never have to use it but I'm sure it will be better than a can of Fix-A-Flat and the 800 number for Dial-A-Prayer.

Nice OEM Spare Tire Kit
This spare tire kit was purchased for a 2014 Hyundai Elantra that came without a spare. It is an OEM part with the jack and lug wrench that fits in the molded styrofoam trunk floor support that prevents rattling. It also comes with a threaded piece that screws into the hole already in the spare tire well from the factory and holds the spare from jostling around. This is a great kit of you like to know that in an emergency, you have a spare and don't have to put goo in your tire and try to pump it up with the little pump that comes in the car from the factory. The 2014 Hyundai Elantra does not include a spare tire but provides a can of sealant and a pump to recover from small punctures. This is okay but if there is a large puncture or gash, the sealant won't work and the car will have to be towed. This spare tire kit will allow one to change the flat tire and drive up to 50 miles.
