Nice long stem for large coffee mugs
The other one that I bought at a major box store , had a short stem and overheated the 3rd time that I used it. So far I've used this one with no meltdown yay!!!

Comes apart after first use
The lighter plug is not a self sealed unit and appears to be screwed together. It is not first world quality. When I tried to get if out of the cigarette lighter, it stuck and came apart. While it has in the cigarette lighter and LIVE. I could hardly get it out. Because it broke apart while plugged in. This is dangerous. Can you put it back together? Yes. Will it work then? Yes… maybe once or twice more. Very dangerous and poor quality. Where the plug connects to the wire you can also see the quality is not good. The wire is very loose and is molded to the unit. They basically laid a piece of wire inside the plastic plug and screwed the top on. Dangerous.Read full review...

Fast heating but brittle.
This heater element is quite fast. It does what is supposed to do. Quality wise is a little fragile, I have no idea how long it will last.

Warms but will not boil water
Quality made product but it does not boil water, only heats it. Yeah, it's only 12V but they claim it would boil 500ml water in about 10 minutes. So I gave it a shot. It did not boil the water, or even come close. I tried 500ml at room temperature and it only went to 130 degrees F in 12 minutes for me. Boiling is 212 degrees F. They claim it will boil 500ml water in about 10 minutes.
So OK to heat coffee or something like that, but if you need an actual boil this probably will not do it in 10 minutes with 500ml as they say it will.Read full review...

Smells of plastic, handle hot and can burn
Heated 1 cup from 80 to boil in 15 minutes, BUT the screws in the handle were up to 180 and can burn your finger. Also my water smelled of hot plastic. Worked ok, and maybe you can add an insulating wrap of tape around handle, but I threw mine out so money down the drain.Read full review...

Seemed like a good idea....but no.
I don't recommend, especially for in a vehicle. The plastic gets very hot, so removing it from travel mug was difficult. It worked a couple of times then didn't. I think it blew it's fuse from overheating.
Thankfully it was cheap.

Boils water in about 4 min, but wires get pretty warm.
Works fine except power cord gets very warm. I redid it and put my own wires on it.

It works
It works nicely. It does take a few minutes to warm up my cup of coffee but overall I recommend it.
