okay so far.

The product works okay for the price. Can purchase many items for the camcorder, extra batteries, lens and lens filters, media cards. The camcorder is not HD however for average use and nonprofessional I would say for the price it is a very good buy. The 810 sony over the 650 has an interal memory also so use can use is right out of the box. Still I'm still very happy. Good price with small case to protect your investment was included.Read full review...

Sony DCR Camera - Very good unit - does what it said

This camera does about anything you want a camera to do. It's compact and easy to handle. Some of the information referring to the camera is a little vague but after using it for awhile it all fits into place. I plan to take the camera with me on two overseas vacations this year and I think I will get very good service out of it. I already have two extra batteries and a charger. The batteries are supposed to last over an hour each so I think I will have plenty for what pictures I want. You use a disc and a memory stick with the camera. I have a pack of 20 disc and over 32GB of memory sticks available. The only problem is, you have to buy these extra and they can get expensive. The camera comes with 1 battery. No Disc or Memory Stick. Disc is for movies and memory stick for still pictures. So far I have had no trouble switching from one to the other in making pictures. They are easily downloaded to my computer and so far I have had no complaints about the quality of the pictures. The movies I plan to download to a VCR. I think I will enjoy the Sony DCR -DVD650 very much, my only regret is that it has no available memory with the camera. The DVD850 has this. Thanks for allowing me to express my opinion about this camera and happy shooting everyone. Jimmy Weeks --weeks378458@bellsouth.netRead full review...

A very great camcorder

This camcorder is best for beginner and very easy to use with it touch LCD screen, battery pack lasted for more then an hour with recording. Result with picture quality from 1 to 10. It's a 7 not bad at all for this lightweight camcorder. However, the downside with finalize a disc take too long average 5 minutes. You can't expect anything more with something under $300 dollar.Read full review...

product works as indicated in the ad, takes good photos

I like the lightweight and compactness. Also the camcorder has a view finder. Most cameras do not have that feature any more. I do not like looking at the screen in bright sun light taking videos, that is why I prefer the view finder. I like the feature that you can record videos on disks and the memory stick.Read full review...

Sony DCR - DVD650 Camcorder

I bought a Sony DCR - DVD650. I must say that I am quite impressed with the camcorder and all of its features. So it is hard to determine what I like most about this camcorder. The fact that it accepts two different types of media to write to is a very strong and flexible point in buying this camcorder. Zooming in on close ups is not a problem with the powerful 60x optic zoom. The tft touch screen makes it very easy to navigate though the camcorders menus and settings. The only drawback that I have came across is that the camcorder cannot write photos to the DVD media, a memory stick must be in place to use the camera only features of this camcorder. All in all though, the Sony DCR - DVD650 Camcorder definitely delivers the most bang for the buck!Read full review...

I love videos of my new grandson!

In all the reviews I read, I failed to realize that only photos will be saved on memory stick. Not videos. Keep this in mind, will require disks. However, I had trepidations about installing software because reviews indicated it would be troublesome. I lucked out. To be able to download directly from disk loaded on camera and not from finding a disk drive that will accept the mini disks, it appears you must have the original install of software on computer. Do not update from Sony site as it then not be an original install and not work! My install on Windows 7 seems to have worked perfectly and I'm enjoying wondrous videos of my first grandson!Read full review...

all cameras do not come with built in memory!!!

This is a very nice video camera and is easy to use but does not come with built in memory so you have to buy mini dvd at a cost of 30.00 dollars for a 3 pack "bestbuy" also if you want to take a still picture you have to buy a memory stick. Thats what they call it but I call it a memory card it is the same one that most digital cameras use also 30.00 dollars for the one they recomend "bestbuy". I purchased both and so far every thing works great and pictures have great quality. Just be aware that you can not use it strait out of the box because of no built in memory which does come with most cameras.Read full review...

DCR-DVD650

Good beginner camera. Most used controls at fingertip so very easy to operate with one hand. Very good pictures in low-light situations. Does not have a light but that doesn't seem to matter, however, focus is not crisp in lower light situations. Menus are easy to navigate and options easy to use. Overall a good buy for the money.Read full review...

Their not inexpensive, but a great little camcorder

What I really like about this camcorder is the fact that you can record right on to a DVD and take it right from the Handycam to the DVD player. I prefer DVD so there is nothing to bother with downloading afterward. What I love about this item is the 60x Optical Zoom, as optical is very important in any form of camera, the higher the optical zoom the better. It is so compact and easy to carry and with the touch screen giving you every step to guide you in getting the camcorder ready for use. Also with the easy button, you don't need to mess with the menu. The only thing I dislike about this item is the battery life per use. It is the smallest one, the NP-FH50, so the battery only lasts 20 to 30 minutes, which is fine when your only using the 30 minute DVD disc, but it takes only an hour or two to fully charge it back up again, which is a plus. My daughter used it for the first time to record a basketball game and it worked great...great quality picture and the sound is so clear! The boys way across the court cheering the girls on was amazing. The steadyshot is a big plus. Taping the game and people up and down bouncing on the bleachers did not affect the recording at all, the picture when re-viewed was picture perfect. Why did I decide to buy it? I had wanted a camcorder for quite some time for taking, like home movies of our grandson outdoors at play and much of the wildlife around here and it was a pricey item being not sure how much it would get used, but in the long run, very much worth the purchase. I'm thrilled with it.Read full review...
