A portable hard drive that acts like an internal hard drive.
Beautifully incased with a glossy finish, super small and light weight works with USB 2.0 and 3.0, you can also purchase wire kits to work with Mac Fire Wire and any other connection type. I use it with my laptop and put all of my media software directly on external hard drive. I have Itunes and Picas with all of their content directly on the external drive to save room on my laptop. So easy to use, just plug and play. It also comes with back up software right on the device that walks you through the install which pretty much installs itself. Once installed the backup software runs in the background. After you hit the "Backup Now" button you no longer have to even think about your backups, it automatically backs up after the first time even if your external hard drive is not plugged in it will back up every change that you make to your computer and the next time you plug the device in, it will back up to it everything it has stored up tell then. A good product, works great for all our file storage needs.
This Hard Drive is easy to setup and the transfer rate for files is fairly quick. I immediately tested it with a couple of 1-3G file transfers and the delay was minimal. I would strongly recommend this product for anyone who wants to store videos or pictures. I have not tried to use it as a backup for our pc yet, but I am sure it will handle that as easily as it has our files. A good value for the money.Read full review...
Don't replace your computer because you have no RAM buy this save hundreds!
This little beauty was a Father's Day Gift. My father-in-law is so excited that he now has a place to store all the old movies and TV shows he's missed watching for years. With this amount of space he will have space for years to come! I actually think he may have even began to "like" me. Seriously, having storage like this without having to have IT experience to use it is amazing technology. It's so small it's more portable than the laptop its self. I couldn't be happier and my father-in-law, well, Sanford and Son has never looked better! This external drive is perfect for those who can't afford a new computer but need more RAM it literally saves you hundreds of dollars! What's not to like.. a flexible durable drive that performs as advertised!!
Great portable USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 hard drive. I use the hard drive primarily with a seagate media player and it affords lots of room for movies, pictures and music. I have two media players and two STAA1000101 1TB Ultra-Portable drives I use with them. Seagate has adopted a nice modular design with the GoFlex Ultra-portable (and GoFlex Desk) series of external USB hard drives. The GoFlex drives are fully USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 compatible, depending on the interface cable (or base for the Desk drives). This modularity allows the drives to work as Network Attached Storage (NAS) drives with the network adapter bases. Two GoFlex Ultra-Portable drives can be networked with the two-slot GoFlex NAS base, and then taken on the go as portable drives whenever desired. Likewise the GoFlex Desk drives can also be operated as NAS drives (with network base), or used simply as USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 external hard drives. I plan on purchasing additional Seagate Media Players and the GoFlex Ultra-Portable drive as gifts for other family members. The combination provides an easy and great way to share family pictures and home movies. I think this is a great external hard drive. I use it on my mac and have found it to be extremely compact and easy to use. I have recently become a Mac user and truthfully don't know how I ever got by on my PC. The ease of drag-and-drop setup and the intuitive nature of the storage folders makes this external hard drive a valued addition to my home computer system. I would highly recommend this product if you are trying to increase memory space and/or cleanup your existing files.Read full review...
Superb portable drive with good transfer speeds
this product works like a charm right out of the box. even with usb 2.0, speeds are good. i selected 1000 over files adding up to 400gb and transferred all at one go, and it didnt pop up with any transfer error or hang. all files were transferred successfully. product is so slim.
the negatives:
1) it uses a special usb cable, so u have to bring this cable around with u as well as u cannot afford to lose it.
2) as a buyer, of course i wanna much cheaper price. i am talking in terms of singapore dollars.Read full review...

I brought the product because i need to storage data as well as entertainment and hold all my school information. I like the fact it has a 1TB of memory and that it easy to use. I don't like the noise it makes doesn't make too much noise but still a little annoying. This is a good product I don't know too much about other hard drives but I figure they would all be about the same.Read full review...
BIG STORAGE...small package
I bought this to store Video for my HD player and for travel. I am impressed by the sturdy construction for a plastic case. The drive runs pretty cool over a few hours of use (cooler than my other metal cased externals during 2.5 hours of writing when initially transferring files). A real value if you can find it in the $100 (or less) range. This is a good drive for the novice or pro. If you can use a PC, you can use this drive.Read full review...
excellent product
I have lost most of my music, videos, documents and software library from virus and limited space.
With the specifications of seagate and expert reviews i saw, i gave it a try, and i have no regrets because the hard drive has it all, design, portability, capacity and good data transfer rate. i strongly recommend it to anyone. the only bad thing about the Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 1 TB, External,5000 RPM(STAA1000101)Hard Drive,its the best.Read full review...
