Like a Rock

This lens, like all of the Zeiss ZE lenses, feels like a rock in your hands. The build quality, in my opinion, is second to none. The focus action is silky smooth and the all metal body will help keep it that way. The hood is also all metal and it snaps into place with the assurance that most plastic hoods just can't match.

This lens is manual focus only. For me, that's a GOOD thing. No AF to fail or be slightly "off". Simply set the aperture using the dial on your camera and then focus on your subject.

Great lens for landscape photography.

I don't ever plan on using this wide open, so if it is not tack sharp at f 1.4 no biggie. I shoot landscapes with it at f 8-11 and it out resolves any of my Canon L lenses. Don't use it a lot, but when I do the images are brilliant.Read full review...
