Must have most recent software

My Original Valentine 1 radar detector was useless and headed for the trash with all the false alarms. I always loved the arrows but every GM SUV wound makeit alarm. Once I updated this original V1 to latest software with k Junk Fighter it became my # 1 detector. I had purchased the original MAX and was let down on my first day of usig it in on the NYTSPkwy....so off to wife the Max went hoping she would be luckier. She also pickked up tickets in NJ on RT80 so this has tainted me AWAY from the costlier MAX360........So, after, I added a hot red convertible to my stable this Spring, I chose another V1 with LATEST SOFTWARE to help keep me off the shoulder.. I am overall happy with v1 despite its lack of gps and its lack of data base....Read full review...

A MUST HAVE!!

This v1 radar save me couple of time going to work and going to different places.

What i like bout this v1 is that it has good range. It give me a decent amount of time to slow down before the other radars get you.

Just the other day. Cop was hiding around the corner after a overpass. Didnt see what is at the corner. v1 alerted me like 5-10 sec ahead of time. I did went 60mph on a 45mph road because I had to take a đź’© Had a lot of time to slow down.
The downside of valentine1 is that it does give a lot of false alert if you are in town which that has a lot of automatic sliding door like walmart or CVS. The radar alert will go off like crazy but u can turn down the voulme, But if you drive on the Highway is quiet and very good!

Don't buy if you want to speed. I bought it because I want to be alert and know whats around me n keep me awake while driving.

Other then that i gotta say it definitely worth the money every penny.

Love the V1!

The Valentine One is a fantastic product! For those times when I've gotten lost in my own thoughts and my speed has gotten away from me, my V1 has saved me from a hefty ticket in a speed trap. The only fault I can find is that it goes off constantly in busy areas when there are no cops.

I like that it instantly picks up radar from long distances and the warnings are great. The ease of use is great as well: adjusting volume is simple and the way in which it tells you where the porkers are by using arrows is a great addition.

Reccomended, awesome product for the money.

Depends where you live on quality

I lived in Florida and consistently got false alarms everywhere especially behind cadillacs and Chevy suburban type models. Now that I'm in Texas, it picks cops up accurately and way less false alarms. Love, how it tells you direction it picks up signal from and how many it is picking up. So far it has not failed me.Read full review...

Best radar detector I've ever used

Very good detector. It's easy to use and gives plenty of warning. It does give false readings, but that's because it is so sensitive. The mute button takes care of it. Several things I like about this detector are the bogey counter and the directional arrows. This helps you determine what is a false signal or a cop shooting radar under the cover of a false signal. I've had it for a week and it's saved me already 4 times from speed traps. Just get one. Make sure you get the hardwiring kit also.Read full review...

The arrows make it great...

Other than the arrows, it's ok. I've gotten a few tickets with it but i've also missed a lot with it!! One cop told me the reason my Radar didn't pick him up is because they use some new computer technology? So you may want to look into this new technology & a radar that supports it. IDK but I was pretty pissed. If I had to go back I probably would've got a cheaper radar because it seems i'd get the same results. Overall though I am satisfied with the tickets it has saved me from and those arrows are heaven :-)... OH & beware of areas with a Drug Store on each corner. Walgreens, Rite Aid & CVS make this thing go BANANAS! Also, stores with detectors at the door. You can change the mode but then you run the risk of mising a cop...Read full review...

This is THE detector if your a techy and want performance.

Although a bit cumbersome to change settings, once set this thing is a beast. With proper awareness you will be very well covered. The laser is excellent (although don't depend only on that to save you) it does false for me on Mazda's laser cruise control systems. The K band will false at times but I use Savvy to keep it quiet and use big L mode. On the highway this thing is an animal! Will detect brief whiffs of Ka band with Ka Guard off. Even with Ka Guard on the detection range is pretty good. I recommend this if you can afford to purchase it. It's well worth it!Read full review...

VERY sesitive radar detection..... Might be too sensitive for some.....

PRO's.... It is a good detector, of everything.... Very Sensitive. Has great range. I have picked up police radar from almost 2 miles out.

Con's.... Very sensitive. Always seems to be detecting everything, from other detectors to every door opener within a 1 mile radius, so you kinda get numb to the alerts as you think they are always false. Makes you drop your guard. I have had a false alert go on so long I have to turn it off. It picks up cheaper radar detectors and if they are driving close to your speed and staying with you on the road you will beep till you get a good distance away from them. There is no "POP" protection as advertised. If you're the only one on the road and they "POP" you, you will get a ticket if speeding.Read full review...

Very sensitive, great for highway.

Great on highway, but a bit sensitive for in town. Later models than mine have better auto mute, but still excellent detector.

Valentine One V1 Radar Detector worth every $!

Purchased a V1 with POP protection (version 1.8) as my first radar detector after doing a lot of comparison shopping. I am very pleased with the radar to date.

Pros: Excellent long-range detection capability, easy to install and use, directional arrows/bogeys counter/signal strength indicator make it easy to interpret threats. Great use on the open highway and freeways (which is where I go “faster” anyways…)

Cons: When used at night it is VERY difficult to determine which band is being detected (Laser, Ka, K, X) – this is because all of the LED are the same dumb color (red) and space close together. I always pay 100% attention to a Ka-band where as I might shrug off an X-band in the city. This radar does not have a GPS locator map to rule out area-specific false reads (i.e. convenient store automatic door that you always drive by), so this device is limited in effectiveness in the city. I’ve also received some false POP laser warning I was never able to identify??? But that is an infrequent thing and happened in a specific area.

Summary: I’ve mounted my detector high near the mirror to maximize view of surroundings and it works quite well with the hard wire adapter kit. The key here is this detector should be a COMPLEMENT to speeding defense – not an end all. Clearly this will not identify a cop car that is not actively running radar, so a good pair of scanning eyes (on you the driver!!!) is truly your #1 defense. This device works best in open areas and is a great tool that should be added to a driver’s defense bag of tricks. I would recommend the V1 and would buy it again if given the chance. Hope this review helps.
