HOUSE, M.D. SEASON 3RD

You have to give the "House" production team credit. Your show has the "American Idol" lead-in and is often the highest-rated scripted drama on TV. However, instead of playing it safe with disease-of-the week plots, "House" swung for the fences several times: putting its main character in jail and threatening him with prison; ramping up the conflicts between all six of the main characters; and ending the year with a big cliffhanger that threatened to cut the main cast in half. Even when a given episode wasn't advancing the progressive storyline, the writers attempted to push the envelope with several politically themed episodes.

Early in Season 3, the big storyline revolved around recurring guest star David Morse, a detective out to get House and his questionable supply of Vicodin. In previous years, lengthy story arcs were given to Chi McBride and Sela Ward: would House lose his job? would House get married? This year, the theme was: would House go to prison? Morse dominated his episodes by playing the rare character that wouldn't back down to House. Although some media critics grew tired of the plot, which perhaps went on 2-3 episodes too long, the resolution was clever and allowed House to keep his dignity (and his job) without having to sacrifice... anything.

Several subplots emerged throughout the season, such as the romance between Drs. Chase and Cameron (first shown in season 2), and Dr. Foreman's growing dissatisfaction with having House as his mentor. House's fascination (or, some might say, obsession) with his boss, Dr. Cuddy, reached new levels. By the end of the season, House faced near mutiny from his underlings... and still didn't seem all that bothered. Perhaps House was too busy counseling a patient to end his life, or faking cancer in order to get a supply of pain medications. Perhaps he was dodging the romantic advances of a teenager, or trading in his case for a wheelchair in order to recover his handicapped parking spot. The more outrageous the behavior, the better Hugh Laurie was in the role. He even upgraded his cane to a model decorated with stars.

Standout guest stars this season included John Larroquette as a man waking up from a decade-long coma, Joel Grey as an ailing doctor, Dave Matthews as a stunted piano prodigy, and the return of Charles S. Dutton as Foreman's dad.

While the "House" season DVDs are never what you'd call packed with extras, the tightly knotted plots and the rapid-fire dialogue makes this a great show to watch more than once. Also try and track down plot-lines that never quite went anywhere, like Cuddy's rumored pregnancy or her not-quite romance with Wilson.

I love the series.

This replaced one I loaned to a friend who loaned it to a friend ...
It made my collection complete again. Everyone knows this is TV fiction. Real life hospitals are about making money. not saving lives. Successful non-profit hospitals are quickly snapped up by for profit hospital chains who have taken weeding out the poor to a science. Genius, nothing better

Whoever is responsible for the writing of this show is a true genius. Hugh Laurie gives an astounding performance from start to finish with his comedic gags, and unparalleled understanding of medicine, House is a sure winner for the whole family. Dr. Gregory House works in the field of diagnosing medicine and is trouble by his own personal life struggle that seem to affect his job performance. While battling drug addiction, police and several other things, he still delivers an outstanding performance. House season Three is another masterpiece of unflinching dialogue and medical situations. English actor Hugh Laurie play Dr. Gregory House is a maverick medical genius (winner of Golden Globe award 2006 & 2007) again make the same old crazy doctor came to life with his quick and a bit annoying conversation with his patients & fellow peers.

Another great work from film director Bryan Singer.

The producers were reportedly dissatisfied with early auditions for the role of House. When Hugh Laurie auditioned, he apologized for his appearance as he was filming Flight of the Phoenix at the time. Laurie's audition tape compelled director Bryan Singer to get up out of his chair to get as close to the television screen as he could.Laurie's American accent was reportedly so flawless that Bryan Singer singled him out as an example of a real American actor, being unaware of Laurie's background. Laurie later stated that his original impression was that the show was about Dr. James Wilson, as the script referred to him as a doctor with "boyish" looks, assumed this to be the star and that Dr. House was the "sidekick" (the show was not yet titled House at that point). It was not until he received the full teleplay of the pilot that he realized that House was the protagonist.[16] Laurie, whose father was a doctor himself, said he felt guilty for "being paid more to become a fake version of my own father" after being cast as House.

Buying this DVD came naturally to me as I find this is a gem in any drama collection. And for those of you who have never watch House, MD. this is the right time for you to pick it up. Like my mom always says, it is never too late to buy something that make you feel good.

House is a brilliant show medically speaking but so much more than that at the same time. The show is a kind of "24" meets medicine extravaganza. The main character, Dr. Gregory House, is played beautifully by Hugh Laurie. Dr. House is a bitter but brilliant doctor who is crippled in one leg due to the inability of doctors to properly diagnose his problem in time. This makes him a decidedly bitter person when dealing with others yet he is one of the best doctors in his field of diagnostic medicine. He is being forced to serve his clinic hours that he had avoided for a number of years, and this is where the show takes place; in a walk in clinic. Each show is a mysterious new case that puts the patient's life on the line as time runs out. I am disheartened by all of the bad comments people are making about this show, but everyone I have seen this show with and everyone I have shown the show to love it and find it enormously entertaining, funny, and brilliant.Read full review...

House - The Saga Continues

The third season of House is just as great as the seasons before it.
Tensions between House's team and his friends stretch further than most expect.
The constant debate of trying to figure out if House is just hiding behind his sarcasm or if he really is just an ass keeps bouncing back and forth between possibilities.
Several episodes in season three reveal more of House's dark past - such as why he can never forgive his father and why he decided to become the doctor that he is.
He actually starts bonding with patients in unexpected ways, and an unexpected twist shows a out-there bond between Cameron and Chase.

House - Your humanity is showing.
The last episode is a kick in the gut - and makes you almost hate House for his stupidity.

Review: House Season Three DVD

I bought house Season Three on DVD for my wife for Christmas. She is a big fan of the T.V. show and had mentioned that she would like to be able to go back and watch her favorite episodes at her convenience, so I purchased all three seasons for her and I am glad I did. The quality of the video is at least as good as it is on T.V. and it is so nice to not have to sit through commercials or pause the show whenever we need to. On top of all this, the bonus features make an interesting addition to the shows themselves.Read full review...
