Magellen 310 GPS

Super handheld GPS for the money. If you can find one around $50, it is worth the price. No bells and whistles, but for outdoor use such as boating, hunting, hiking etc. it is just fine. This is slightly older technology, but it gains a position fix fairly quickly and is seems very accurate. It is extremely easy to learn how to use. We purchased the unit to have in our boat, both as a safety precaution (along with a marine radio) and for navigation to published fishing and diving spots. One of the drawbacks to the unit is that it only allows four charachters for each position address. It holds 100 positions and will fix a position on the fly without any issue. The unit does exactly what we need for navigation, runs on 2 AA batteries, and is small enough and light enough to stow easily. I would recomend this unit as a starting unit for anyone needing basic GPS capability.Read full review...

Worked great but not exaxtly what I was looking for.

This gps worked great for finding the co:ords that I was looking for but I needed to be able to save more information about each waypoint. I was looking for a gps to use for geocaching and this o0ne got me within a few feet of each cache. However, I wanted to be able to download information directly from my computer and I could not do that with this gps without buying several other items like cables, maps, and software so I decided to go with a newer model. I would recommend this unit to someone who is looking for rugidness, and accuracy. Great for hikes, fishing, hunting, etc., even a good starter unit for geocaching if you don't mind inputting the co-ordinates.Read full review...

Good buy, very well satisfied

I purchased this item because I do cemetery surveys and need the gps so it can be located for future use or updating. I did not need something more expensive, just something that will do the job. It is a good brand name and does what I need it to do. I also live in the mountains and it is also good to carry when hiking.Read full review...

THE MAGELLAN GPS 310

I like this GPS 310 because it is very simple to operate, it is very small, and it is very cheap as compared to the $2,500.00 to $3,500.00 units that are used for flying. This does not have the roll maps or color like the more expensive models, however this little unit will still do what the expensive models do and that is to get you from A to B. The reason for buying this one from ebay was to have a backup for the one unit that I have used for several years now. The magellan Company do not manufacture this model any longer. Because of this buying another was priority number one. It is a great instrument for navigation along with other radioes in the plane.Read full review...

Own 315. Great operation, lousy svs on older

My 315 (310's big brother) stopped receiving data recently- out of warranty, no estended warranty, naturally. After 5 second review of problem, Magellan Svs said they haven't service this series for several years (not a big surprise). Offered $20 off on their cheapest replacement unit, up to $100 on $500 unit. This unit operated flawlessly for 3-4 yrs, so perhaps I expect too much but I don't think so. Problem should be relatively easy to find, fix.Read full review...

Can't go wrong with this unit but you can get much better.

It's a very rugged unit that fits my needs very well. I mark several spots for deer runs and possible tree stands. Very simple to use but lacking creature comforts of new units. For $50. how can you go wrong?Read full review...

Speedometer check

Bought an older (72) Dodge truck and was advised that speedo was not accurate. Week later found out my son's ex totaled his truck. Gave him the Dodge, we took it on a stretch of road and calibrated the speedometer from 45 to 80. it read 1 mile high. But we knew. Have used it to find property line pins when they are hidden under the bushes.Read full review...
