Not the best quality reproduction but saves a LOT of ££ if successfully installed.

The overruling fact is that this saves a LOT of money so despite its failings if it stays fixed then all good.

It is not the best quality and even the comparable quality of plastic compared to original (which is a pig to break away) is low.

You will need a relative amount of practical ability to change this part but its an otherwise simple process but give yourself a few hrs start to finish.

Some of this might not make much sense until you are in about it but hope it helps if you encounter problems.

When you take the lid off the actuator body it may stick - this is the power pins for the motor. Make sure you separate the lid keeping it parallel other wise you will snap the plastic location pins on the motor connector. Not the end of the world but one to watch.

One tip I would give is given the quality of the moulding on the 'arm/actuator' part, it tends not to sit the best and the potential to snag on the gear wheel would be a pain in the a$$. You may need to do a bit of careful shaving with a stanley blade to tidy up the gear moulding to get a good fit, and give the arm a good clean /degrease. Once the new plastic teeth are installed run some superglue along the edge so it goes between the plastic and the arm. Give it a good squeeze until set (use activator if impatient) and that seems to hold it flat.

Also I found the replacement gear sits a tiny bit low and rubs on the actuator gear piece so popped a thin 5mm dia nylon washer on the shaft underneath it with a bit of silicon grease and that gives it a nice free running clearance between all the moving parts, motor, gear wheel and actuator gear.

The gear wheel I also noticed is not very accurate in the 'round' so does create a few tight spots depending where it falls. Work the mechanism manually before bolting down the motor carrier and if it has tight spots just lift the gear and rotate a few degrees until you find the best fit and it returns on the spring smoothly.

Simple and reliable fix!!

After trying several cheap throttle body replacements bought on eBay, which all failed causing MIL light errors, I finally relented trying to replace the entire body, and re-used my Siemens VDO throttle body, but replaced the worn gears which were causing the problem (more often than not the actual cause of throttle body faults) with these replacement gears. A little bit fiddly with the crown gear, but the other gear was a complete walk in the park to replace. I would strongly recommend using this repair kit if you have idle problems on your vehicle. Great value for money, and usually there is nothing wrong with the old throttle body apart from worn out nylon gears.Read full review...

Cheap solution saved me a fortune

Although I believe it is an over priced item, but it is a very cheap solution to keep your original throttle actuator without spending a fortune to buy the original part.
There are some cheap unbranded throttle actuators here and there, but this part is still a cheaper solution and keeps your original part. I had a bad experience with cheap unbranded parts.
It is fairly easy to fit, nothing complicated and no much tools are required (just torex keys).

Better than replacing the whole body

Quick and easy transaction.
Promptly received item looking exactly like photos.
Old parts easy to remove with torx drivers and dremel for half moon gear.
Half moon replacement poor fit on metal bracket but careful scraping with Stanley knife removed binding area. Still not perfect fit and might need glue/ resin to fix permanently but send to sit in place for now.
Wheel gear is fine.
Reassembly simple reversal of dismantling.
Fault code gone (needs VDS reset in due course) and runs well.
Durability - we'll see.
£30 + 30mins (inc body clean) vs £300 = bargain.

Great kit

Was worried it was 3d printed material but it's actually proper moulded plastic which was good. I bought it for an Audi a8 d3 3.0tdi quattro 2007. The throttle valve form number actually wasn't listed on the advert so took a chance and the gears fitted perfectly. So the following component code can also be added to the list.

Good kit, easy to replace on A5

Kit does the job, throttle body now working correctly. Easy DIY job to change, just extortionate cost for two tint little plastic cogs but cheaper than a whole new throttle body.

Expensive but it worked.

The quadrant gear piece needed to be glued in place (it did not just clip on nor could it be screwed on), but it works.

29 GBP for a couple of small plastic gears is excessive, but it is cheaper than unnecessarily buying the whole throttle body.Read full review...

Ok fix

Not a bad cheap fix if you’re prepared to do some work to make them fit properly, the gears seem to be a little on the thick side so had to trim them up with some emery cloth, other than that they do the job ok. Read full review...
