Camera case for Nikon DF

When I first received this camera case I was initially somewhat disappointed. Its construction seemed down right weird. As I examined it more carefully I realised that the design of this case is extraordinarily good, and that the fabrication is also great. This case is truly designed for the Nikon DF camera. It consists of two separate pieces. First there is one of the ḧalf cases that have become common. This fits under the bottom of the camera and is held in place by a brass piece that screws into the tripod socket. The half case has cut outs for the the electrical connexions on the side, and a ¨trap door" to access the battery and memory compartment without removing it. This part is well made of good quality leather.

The second part of the case is also made of high quality leather. It wraps around the camera to protect it whilst the camera is being transported. It comes with a small brass screw that can be used to attach the second part to the tripod socket extension provided by the half case. I have never used this, because it does not make any sense to me. What is important is that this wrap around second case part can be removed in an instant, and it can also be re installed just about as fast. (It takes a few applications to learn to do it fast. )

(Place the wrap around case upside down in front of you with the bottom part of the case toward you. Insert the camera, upside down, into the case, Wrap the top of the case around the camera, and snap the far end of the case onto the bottom part of the case. It takes just an instant. It is just as easy to remove it!)

The type of "ever ready" case sold for older film cameras is not very practical for cameras like this, because the case is cumbersome and gets in the way. This alleviates this problem by making it easy to place the camera into the case and to remove it very quickly when photo opportunities appear.

Meanwhile it prevents smashing the camera!
