Iomega Zip Disks
The old 8-inch, 5¼-inch, and 3½-inch floppy disks were the first data storage sources that came out with the first personal computers. IBM introduced the 8" diskette commercially in 1971. The 5¼-inch, and 3½-inch floppy disks were the source of data storage thru the 1980s.
When Iomega Zip Disks first came out back in the 1994 they became an instant hit almost immediately, the reliability was excellent. Iomega sent me one of the first drives and the 100mg dicks for free back then as I owned a service bureau. Thru the years I have owned many drives and disks, as I still do to this day. Failure rate on these was very low, I rarely saw it. People would transfer files using these disks from company to company or person to person. Most also used them as backup disks for files as well. Although I personally use them very rarely today, there are still a lot of people who do use them. Fast and reliable. Even though the CD and the DVD discs came out in the same era, Zip disks were a very fast and easy way to save and transfer files.
It wasn't until the Flash Drives in the year 2000 came out, that Zip Disks popularity began to dwindle.Read full review...
