I was in the Saltwater and Reef hobby from 1991 to 2001--- i just got abck in the hobby in 2019. Today there are a lot of choices when it comes to starter nitrifying bacterias and different styles from fish only, fish and bacteria combo and bacteria starter. 30 years ago, CYCLE was the most popular option to use. CYCLE has always worked very successful for me and very consistent in freshwater, saltwater, reef, and pond applications. It works great for starting new tanks, adding new fish, and a weekly or monthly maintenance additive. I'm a strong believer it helps accelerate the cycle process in a new tank. Another time, i used CYCLE to help cook or process a batch of "dead" rotted live rock. Adding dead rock to a tank will be smelly and gross and the dead life processes through. Adding CYCLE bacteria to a tank with dead rock, the bacteria immediately goes to work digesting the excess dead materal and deitris. I am currently running 2 reef tanks and i acquired the largest container CYCLE provides to stock it in my frig and use and neccesary. This is a high quality, reliable product with a 35 year history since around 1984. This product is probably also the most affordable in the market in 2019.
