Would buy again. Wish the 18 TB version was not priced so high right now. Size matters.
When it receives pieces of data, like from a file being written from a Wi-Fi source, it gives a grunt every few seconds. When writing a continuous file, the grunt is more-muffled, probably because it is a continuous grunt and you tend to ignore it. It is one on my noisiest drives but it's not a squeal or rattle, which would be very bad. All in all, better than most of my Western Digital drives. I would buy Seagate again but consider a remote location for this drive, if possible. I still like the 3 TB Seagates if you have enough slots for these small drives. They are inexpensive, quiet, and fast. The 4 TB and 6 TB Seagates run hot and the 8 TB Seagate is slow. The 12 TB IronWolf series is very nice and is another sweet spot in the Seagate lineup.Read full review...

Make sure to buy drive w/ 5 YR Seagate Warranty.
Too new to tell if they will last long & if reliable. Havent bought Seagate drives for over a decade because of reliability issues. Taking a chance on this drive + price was acceptable w/ Ebay Bucks 10% promo..
NOTE: Buy and make sure you get Seagate 5 Years Warranty. I bought 2 from memoryonly and 1 of them was out of warranty when I check with Seagate.Read full review...

Great Drive, Low Price
I bought this drive in December 2022 and it is still running strong as of 11/2/2023. It seems to be performing quite well. The drive can be loud at times when under heavy load. 10/10 would buy again. I will update the review when the drive dies(if I am able to update reviews.).Read full review...

Fantastic NAS drive, but caveat emptor: industrial noise level
Using this in a NAS, upgrading from 4TB Iron Wolf Pro. They perform admirably and I especially can't beat them on sale for 1/2 off. Only unexpected negative is the noise, which I did read about but you kind of have to experience it firsthand... it's not ridiculously loud? But it's not quiet. One single drive being written steadily sounds almost exactly like the gutter runoff hitting the bottom of the metal downspout outside the home, a few minutes after a cloudburst. It can be a pleasant sound at the right time of day, etc., less awesome at others. I'm a litttttle afraid of what all four bays are gonna sound like. But: no pain, no RAID, I always say-ed.Read full review...

Great price, noise caught me off guard
It is a great value because it has high storage for a good price. I was also very impressed by the packaging. I was however, caught off guard by the noise it generates, I think it's normal though.

Fast and quiet!
I’ve owned quite a few hard drives and storage devices… these exos drives have blown every other hard drive I’ve owned out of the water for speed and capacity.. and the pricing is great!

Great for new NAS
I decided to build my home NAS. I have used IronWolf with my Synology. However, I wanted to go a little forward. These Exos have not disappointed me.

Excellent 16TB Drive
Great drive for Plex Server. Had to rebuild my system and went with a much larger data drive and this was very affordable.

What I needed for Workstation expansion.
Got tired of buying 4T drives for backup of Autodesk Civil Design Drawings and Data Bases. Kept having to interchange disks when I needed to retrieve data on a older job, Now I will be able to expand to 3 16T drives for back up instead of temporally swapping out drives. I have a HP Z620 with 96gb RAM and dual 8 core, 16 thread Intel Xeon E5 2680 processors with a WD 1T SSD for operating drive and a PNY GeForce GTX 1070 with 8gb onboard RAM video card for 3D rendering.Read full review...
