The key to connectivity.
I am using a Linux based system and have blasted this ExpressCard with as much power as I can possible force upon it. Connected to it is a SAS Ultrium HP LTO-5 Tape Drive. I have been running backups for several days and have found that not only does this card work efficiently under Linux, but also managed to survive and support the ability to perform well with the LTO-5 tape drive.
Many people on many forums say that an LTO-5 HP SAS drive will not work with a notebook/laptop computer but thanks to Sonnet, this is just a fallacy.
Sonnet brings server quality tech to any ExpressCard supporting notebook.
So if anyone is wishing to access SAS connected hardware with a notebook/laptop computer, I will highly recommend the Sonnet TSASII-PRO-E34.
If you can handle a tape drive, you can definitely handle all other SAS supported hardware. Read full review...

Good tool for the repair tech
great little tool for the repair bag if you work with sata/sas drives/targets. Lets you do firmware updates and low level changes (changing block sizes/low level formats/etc) with a portable laptop opposed to having to bring an entire system up to do it. Really wish someone would make a rat-tail adapter using thunderbolt for newer laptops but this does the job.
Note have only tested this w/ linux. Also this is using the Marvel controller which does support (limited) raid functionality as well (0/1/10) but that wasn't a focus for testing.Read full review...

Nonfunctional, only money loss
I tried to connect the extension to three notebooks and two computers, but even a one machine did not reflects it. It was like the device does not exist.
