Superb sound quality
This Rotel CD player from 1995 that I purchased on Ebay beats every player I have previously owned. Accurate, smooth bass, and no harsh frequencies. Yesterday, I played the 2011 remastered version of Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" and King Crimson's 1974 bombastic masterpiece "Red". The Rotel unit handled all the heaviness and subtleties of both with ease. The day before, I listened to Macey Grey's "On How Life Is" and John Legend's "Wake Up!" The Macey Grey material sounded deep, rich and detailed. "Wake Up" was recorded with too much treble emphasis on the cymbals, and the accuracy of the Rotel brings that out. A CD player can only bring out the source material, so if you play very well-recorded CDs, they will sound sublime, whereas poorly recorded CDs can sound harsh or muffled. (The tone controls on your receiver or amplifier can compensate to some extent.) Altogether, I love the sound and performance of the RCD-965BX. Mine has been around since 1995 and still works fine, and I hope for more years of musical enjoyment from it.Read full review...

This replaced another Rotel, and this one sounds much better - more open, great stereo separation and looks new.
