What a great litte tool

This is a great tool. I can now put my desktop where ever I want. Before I had to put it where wire allowed me to put it. The install was very easy, The instructions were very easy to follow. It only took a few minutes to get it working.

I am very happy with this product. I recommend it to any one that wants to use a desktop computer and have it where ever you want and not be limited by your router wire. Oh, it also works wonderfully well on laptops that have an issue with the built in wifi card.

I have used it in both ways and am very happy with the results. I do love not having to worry about those router wires and all that. There are enough wires in our lifes one less is always welcome.

Wrong item.

It's just one of those things where you buy something expecting to get in the mail, and when it comes and you open the box, it is something else. But I'm not even mad to be honest. A Wi-Fi range extender isn't so bad either. I'll use it too. Just bought a TP-Link wireless USB adapter, and it by far has worked way better than this D-Link wireless USB adapter!Read full review...

Location Is Everything

I have been using these adaptors for a number of years without issue. The adaptor is easy to install and configure. Finding a signal is very easy, with or without the extension. I have several in use right now without interferrance or speed issues. With the extension, I can place adaptors virtually anywhere. Some of mine are used and of unknown age. Yet I never needed to replace one. When I take one out of use, I place it in a ziplock bag and toss it my junk drawer. So they don't enjoy a cushie retirement either.Read full review...

Great for optimizing desktop WiFi reception

The cable allows positioning other than in the USB socket which is almost always away from the WiFi source, and behind the metal PC enclosure. Putting the adapter in an unobstructed position on top of, or nearby, the desktop tower, improves signal quality. A no-brainer!Read full review...

Works great for Ubuntu (Linux)

These units a little big and bulky, however they are automatically recognized by Ubuntu (and other Linux OS's) and are easy to get working there. The USB cradle is nice so that it doesn't stick out the side of your computer where you risk having it hit and broken off. This can also help with the range since you have control over strategically placing the unit that way.

non wifi capable desktop

I got fed up with my internet and phone provider at my apt. complex in Tucson, especially since I'm only in town for 1-2 weeks every 2 months. Bought a mobile base from my cellular provider and researched wifi adapters for the non wifi capable office desktop. Major office supply stores wanted $35-40 for a usb plug in, they said adapters with a cord were no longer available. From research I did on line, metal disrupts a wifi signal (don't know if that is true or not). I found this one for $7.99, free shipping and a cord. When it arrived, plugged it in, ran it on top of the desk, pointed it towards my onsite managers apt, put in his lock code for his wifi. Works great!!! No more gouging from my old internet/phone provider.Read full review...

Not of good quality

I ordered 2 units since I have 2 desktops. It was easy to setup and got it working in minutes. After one day in service one of the two units failed. The PC could not recognize the unit. So far the other unit is still working fine.Read full review...

Pluses and Minuses; OK for the Price

The software was easy to install and it is easy to connect to my home network. However, the speed is slower than expected and sometimes the connection freezes or is lost. I'd recommend this only due to the cheap price.Read full review...
