It works fine. I actually stuck my M.2 drive in it and then put it in a USB enclosure.

I have this with my M.2 in it and in a USB enclosure as a portable drive and have been copying files to it as a backup drive. Just be sure you use an M.2 drive as specified in the listing. It does NOT work with an M.2 NVMe drive, just that M.2 drive that they specify. My files transfer over pretty fast and its lightweight to carry with me.Read full review...
