Don't buy

The only thing I would recommend this for is to use as a decoration for a music room or something. It is pretty wood I'll give it that, but if you are interested in learning to play the bagpipes this practice chanter is flat out unusable. It doesn't play the scale at all in tune so even if you play correctly it still sounds like junk. I even tried using some nicer reeds that I have and even they couldn't help the sound. Do yourself a favor and save up 40 or 50 bucks and buy a decent plastic practice chanter from a reputable maker.Read full review...

For decoration only

Wow was I disppointed when mine arrived today. This isnt even fit for a child to play, only a decoration if that. I will probably give it away. Holes are too small, only one tone plays and the reeds are plastic.
Totally let down as I am going to Scotland next month and now will not be learning Or taking a chanter with me.

Better off as a decoration

No matter how many adjustments I made to the reed, it still sounded like a cat dying whenever I played it. Note to self - don’t buy a cheap chanter. Spend a bit more money and get a decent one. This rosewood chanter, although beautiful, left a lot to be acoustically desired.Read full review...

essentially useless

it's like when you buy those pens at the dollar store and they don't even write. it's like, that's the only thing yr supposed to do.

reeds are way too easily overblown and unpredictable.
>chanter, when you are able to produce a coherent sound, has just insane intonation. not at all the correct scale and tuning is a nightmare.

a total waste of (at least not much) moneyRead full review...

Not bad for a beginner chanter

This works well for a beginner level, like myself. I would recommend it if you want to learn the pipes without breaking the bank.

I have tried the Chanter a few times and have not been successful in getting a consistent tone out of it.

Not a perfect chanter, but good enough for this beginner.

Reeds

For its price the sound is okay, I had to go to a store and buy new reeds. The suppliers though are fantastic. The first one was broken and they sent a new one. Further I have bought a couple of other items from them and they are terrific.Read full review...
