Awesome, Affordable, and very easy Home Theatre system

My wife and I have wanted one of these since they came out....we had thought about about buying one at various prices but always backed away because of the price...($600.00 when they first came out). Now these are at a good price here on ebay and it is a purchase that is well worth it.

The Philips HTS8100 is easy to set up, has only two main components and provides good cord management. The sound quality for TV and movies is excellent and the upscaling of regular DVDS looks awesome. The picture is clear and colors are vibrant.

The included iPod/iPhone dock is a wonderful feature...we love using Pandora internet radio through the soundbar. There is also an input for other mp3 player brands.

Other reviews say that fingerprints are a problem...this is only true if you have cats that like to sit on the sub (or kids with grubby fingers). Finger prints don't seem to be an issue on the other components (Soundbar, remote).

Awesome sound for a soundbar!

I just got this new Phillips soundbar here on e-bay for less than $225, and it's worth every penny. The sound is better than I would have expected--The system is powerful, with crisp highs, as well as booming bass from the included subwoofer. The unit is easy to set up, takes up very little space on the wall under my 42" Panasonic plasma HDTV, and the sound fills the room as well as my old bulky, space-eating rack stereo sytem. I'm very pleased with my purchase, and I highly recommend the Phillips soundbar to anyone looking to save some space and improve the aethetics of their TV/Cinema room without sacrificing sound quality.Read full review...

This was the third Philips HTS8100 Theater System I purchased. This unit is a sleek space saving home theater system with excellent sound quality. The two unit system is the perfect answer to do-it-yourself surround sounds. The only draw back is the wire that connects the main unit to the subwoofer. Interesting Device - with unique features.....

Great sound -- interesting features considering the "surround" sound is only coming out of one set of speakers in front of you -- there are no other speakers to the set other than the soundbar itself... so the weirdest part is to hear sounds coming from parts of the room where there aren't any speakers to produce those sounds... Amazing Soundbar!

I bought a refurbished one and the sound is amazing--but make no mistake this is no Bose. It is a beautiful piece, compliments any flat screen. It's size, sound and price makes it fun, affordable and convenient to use. Drawbacks are no Blu-ray, the sub is wired, and that the sub does not have a manual knob to add or delete bass.
