Palm Treo 700wx: An iPhone before iPhones existed!

Having traversed my way through myriad new phones only to find them all cheaply made, overpriced and having a lifespan of about 6 months, I decided to go "old school" and go back to the Treo I owned some 2 years ago. It is a solid device that can withstand the daily rigors of my travels. It syncs directly with my Windows PC (Outlook, Media, etc.), has Blue Tooth AND IR,and it offers a full sized SD card slot. And it just feels like a phone, not a toy. It uses the Windows Mobile OS, a touch/tap screen and at it's inception, was years ahead of the Mac alternative (iPods/iPhones). It resembles the Pocket PC's that I have used (and still do) and presents a familiar & easy to use interface. Battery life is excellent and changing batteries (I always travel with a spare) is effortless. Having this device may seem too old school for some- those slaves to the latest and "greatest", but if you are looking for a phone that is more like a very small laptop, I highly recommend this one.
The only dislike that I can register is that it uses Internet Explorer for it's browser, which sometimes renders web pages full sized and therefore hard to read, but enough of the sites that I visit have Mobile or Phone rendered pages and this more than makes up for it.

This workhorse smartphone is a great value for the budget-conscious buyer.

This Palm Treo (755p - Sprint) is a workhorse. Recently bought a used one as a replacement for my original which was 4 yrs old when I landed on it during a fall.
*Positives*
-Love the full QWERTY keyboard.
-Good set of apps that come with it. Includes an easy to use calendar and contacts, & email - set up for business use.
-VPN available.
-Audible reader and eReader apps available.
-Google Maps with traffic. Listen to mp3 music in stereo using PTunes or with an older version of Kinoma, listen to podcasts.
-You can still find games that will work. IM & Facebook, too.
-Camera & Video is decent. Great battery.

Much better Palm smartphone than the later Centro series (smaller screen). I am able to use it with my old Sprint service without having to upgrade to the new 79.99 per mo. contract.

*Negatives*
-Blazer internet browser is slow and klunky.
-No app store.
-No Palm support any longer. (HP has a few FAQs and downloads)

Cool Phone!

I had a Black Berry 8330. I was on my 3rd refurbished one. The phone was dropped one time (fell two feet to the floor) and the "mouse" popped out and the shattered. This phone is built so much better than the Black Berry. Yes it is a little bit bigger, but it seems more solid. I like the one touch features for email, phone, calander and messaging. I also like the one touch turn off. Oh and the time it takes to turn the phone off is super fast! 10x faster than the Black Berry. Battery life is good as well.

My only complaint is the signal strenth isn't great. I usually have full strength here at work and now I only have one bar. Going to try a antenna booster to see if that helps.

A step ahead of Palm Treo 700p

I love this phone, it gets the job done and is easy to text with. I had a Palm 700p and it worked great after having it so long, it never froze or gave me problems but the antenna gave me problems and looked too big.Eventually the bulky thing just fell off, leaving me with a perfectly good phone and no service. So when i saw they had one just like it but instead it was without the antenna and improved interface, i was searching all over ebay for it. If your a big texter, this is good for you, it has a good battery and the only bad thing i can say is con, is that you need an adapter for the micro sd/memory card but other than that, love this phone compared to the instinct i had also. Overall great phone.Read full review...

Palm Treo 755P

The 755P is a heavy-duty phone/PDA with a superior keyboard. It works very well when used to write emails, send and receive text messages, and as a phone (no small thing when compared to the IPhone!). I am a power Outlook 2003 user, and this device allows me to keep my Calendar function (with extensive notes) and Contacts (including numerous sub directories) on the device itself indefinitely. Lots of memory. It won't fill to capacity no matter how many entries you make, as long as you use a memory card for picture and program storage. Only major shortfalls are no GPS and the limited availability of good extra programs written for this phone and its Palm operating system. The CallBlock 2.0 software, available for about $10, is fantastic for screening phone pests you would prefer to avoid.Read full review...

Good and Durable. But little bit old.

The good: The Palm Treo 700wx offers more available memory than Verizon's version, the 700w. The Windows Mobile smart phone also has integrated Bluetooth, a 1.3-megapixel camera, and EV-DO support.>The bad: The Palm Treo 700wx lacks integrated Wi-Fi and retains the low-resolution 240x240-pixel display.
The bottom line: The Palm Treo 700wx brings some needed improvements to the Windows Mobile smart phone, such as more memory, but it's still far from perfect.
Review: We're not sure if you've heard, but Sprint is getting its own version of the Palm Treo 700w. OK, we say this with a bit of sarcasm as the specs, the images, heck, even the user manual were leaked all over the Web. But now we can say officially that the Palm Treo 700wx for Sprint is here. The Windows Mobile-based Treo offers a couple of advantages over its Verizon variant, among them increased memory and thus improved performance. In addition, it comes with push e-mail capabilities right out of the box, and you can use it as

Good Phone Bad Buy

i bought this phone solely to synchronise my computer resources such as contacts, documents, images, videos, music, and calendar however since i am running windows 7 on a 64 bit processor, there was no reason to continue using it. unfortunately PALM technologies only support 32 bit systems all around unless you buy a bluetooth dongle to wirelessly connect the device to the computer and they also haven't released an edition of palm desktop compatible with windows 7. i feel that PALM, like APPLE, wants you to only use their systems, and by eliminating simple 'drag and drop' have complicated a simple sync. Now i'm back to using my samsung RANT,i can play my music and take pictures without the hassle.Read full review...

Treo 755p: The last stand.

You know, I am not on the all data plan band wagon. At least not yet. $70 plus dollars a month is expensive for a phone plan. Thats over $850 a year after tax and hidden fees. I mean, I pay for screaming fast internet at home.

The Treo 755p is the last (non- blackberry) smart phone left that doesn't necessitate an all- data plan. Why do you need a smart phone if yoy dont have internet? I text a lot, my life is dependent on the calendar function and I love lover love the touch screen/ stylus palm pilot feature. As opposed to the putsy scrolling ball of the blackberry, the touch screen is a must for maneuvering around the phone's OS.

So for all of you who aren't phased by the all data frenzy and can wait a year and save hundreds of dollars. Stick it out with the Treo 755p, a fantastic phone.

Palm Treo 700

My android phone recently had to go back to samsung for warranty work and i needed a phone because I never buy insurance for them. So I thought I got a pretty good deal on the palm treo 700 on ebay. I know its outdated, but they work. It has a really loud ringer on wich is great for me but the windows on a phone? lets say there easier technology to operate now a days. But in the long run, I just keep taking this treo back to my cell phone provider and have them activate it every time my (android) screen loses sensitivty or a speaker goes out or my phone starts deleting all my files and photos for no apperant reason and the treo just keeps on chuggin...Read full review...

Good phone for $ but.........

Over all it is a good phone, but it is too big to fit into any cases, I contacted the seller that the case they sent with the phone was too small, so they were quick to send me a second, to bad it was the same case as the first time. For texting it only allows like 160 characters, that sucks, plus the buttons are hard if you have big fingers. I could not get it to download any ring tones at all or take them off the SD card. Plus it will not sync with my computer, I had a Palm before that did the same thing, it would never sync, but it does get and send email fine, and as a phone it works great. Just don't count on being able to put it into a hip holder, or for all the extras to work. Such as the MP3 or ring tones. But for the $ its good.Read full review...
