Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee

I found this game surprisingly a lot harder than I thought it to be. I played this before, but it took me a long time to finish it, and the first time I failed, so I played with it the second time, this time succeeding.

This happened about seven years ago. Now, before I bought this game again, the CD was so utterly scratched up that it couldn't even start, and I frowned at my younger self for not taking a better care of the game.

Now years later, I got the game again, and I'm happy to note that it's in good shape, a couple scratches and only one freeze during the game itself.

Again, I'll say that the game was a lot harder than I thought it to be, and I like that frustration in a hard game, meaning that I have to actually work at it. I also forgot that the game didn't allow a "free roaming" for Abe, only run side to side, jump up, and crouch down. But it didn't do much to sway my feeling in wanting to play the game.

Thank you.

Killer Gas?

This game has you send expelled gas to your enemies and kill them. This game was way ahead of it's time. Probably the last great game of it's kind. It both entertained me and my kids as well as terrify them a little.Read full review...

classic platforming puzzler

if you like platforming and/or thinking games this is definitely for you. You play as a "Mudokan" named Abe and you escape slavery from an evil company called Rupture Farms and now its your job to save as many Mudokans as you can along the way guiding them to portals using all sorts of different things to do it for example controlling the enemy by chanting, using bombs, leading enemies to their deaths, using the gamespeak system that allows you to talk and lead the mudokans to safety. The only downsides to this game is that it has a trial and error type gameplay which means if you dont know what to do the first time you will the second or third and so on because you will die in this game the other thing I dont like is the way the game is saved onto the memory card it wont overwrite an existing save instead it will create a brand new save and if your memory card is full you'll have to delete some of those save to make space but thankfully you can delete saves on the same menu. I gave this game an excellent because despite its minor flaws its just too fun with its humor, atmosphere, and gameplay.Read full review...

A classic everyone should play!

I played this game with my father when it first came out, and the following sequels. Now its many years later - and I needed to play it all over again! Since my first Oddysee was for a PC, I needed to buy it for PS2.

Really is an awesome game. Lots of hidden levels, & you really want to look for them - because that huge status sign you'll see every once and awhile makes you sad [that is if you left behind your fellow Mudokons, or let them perish].

It is a really simple puzzle game. As in - if you jump in the wrong spot, you'll most likely die. I almost gave it a "Good" rating, because of that. But! Just get used to the movements & controls - and you'll be a pro in no time.

Odd......Yes. Excellent....... Also.

This title is for anyone who likes solving problems. As you progress through the game, you will be saving your fellow friends of sorts while avoiding PLENTY of obstacles, enemies, and puzzles. All the while trying to keep your friends safe..... Even though, while mean, it's sometimes funny to lead them to their demise. You will use dialogue through out the game to interact with the characters you save. Even though the game isn't based on combat, some situations call for the destruction of your enemies. You will not, however, be facing the majority of your enemies head on. You will usually be able to find clever means to dispose of your foes.

This is a great game over all. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a bit of a challenge and a brainteaser.

A terrific and very unique game!!

If you want to play a game that is not only unique but also challenging you have to pick up Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee. You get to help the quirky Mudokon, Abe, traverse treacherous terrain, control enemies with psychic abilities, rescue your fellow Mudokons and some other monstrous creatures, and even turn into a monster yourself. Great gameplay and tight controls help make this game even sweeter. Have fun exploring the strange world of Oddworld, it is well worth it!!Read full review...

Mind blowing puzzles to save fellow Mudokons

For action loving gamers, this is a cult classic. The main character, Abe, must try and save 99 fellow Mudokons from being made into food. All are guarded by armed enemies and made to work while waiting on their turn in the slaughterhouse. You must figure out how to get to them without alarming the guards as they will shoot them and you. The strategy is sometimes extremely difficult to figure out but what a fun and entertaining game this is. Abe can talk and yes, fart as part of his arsenal of items that he can use to save his fellows. Buy it, play it and love it.Read full review...

Oddworld PS1: An investment? Or just a game...please read on.

Hi everybody. About THIS copy of Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee (Sony PlayStation 1, 1997). It is a unique item "not meant to be used", that is in my opinion. Instead it is a collectible demo once a hand-out at the Interactive booth in 1997. It is a pristine mint, sealed demo disc y-fold worthy of grading, thus an investment for this collector. Opening it would hence ruin it for all I know. I like the uniqueness that it is quite rare and looks awesome in PS1's Black Label presentation as with many of their (Sony) games. Nothing quite a sealed PS1 BL game. It's just me, I like this because it is still one of my favorite games and as mentioned earlier, a unique "cut above the rest" ODD specimen. I still play the regular disc on PS1 or the PC version occasionally as a means of escape. If unfamiliar, maybe try it out on PS1 or from Steam for PC, quite comical and yet difficult. Thanks.Read full review...

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee

Abe's Oddysee is one of the best games I have ever played, and possibly the strangest. Most games feature a ripped hero with an arsenal of weapons and a devil may care attitude while Abe is armed with nothing but a loincloth and broken english. Your main goal as Abe is to escape with as many Mudokons as possible before you become Rupture Farms' newest export. The best part about this game is that there are no points to be earned. Either you make it out of Rupture Farms successfully or you die. Although the game's graphics are out of date, the compelling story line and quirky characters easily overshadow this one flaw. Abe's Oddysee is a fun way to spend your time and money.Read full review...
