Rock Stable Easy Overclock

This chip has an unlocked multiplier. With only a 0.04 Volt increase, my particular chip runs flawlessly at 3.7 Ghz. Using a decent CPU air cooler, temps are extemeley low. People routinely run this chip at 4.0 GHz with a 0.10 overvoltage. Bootup is very quick and processor load while in use is usually in the range of 25%. If you need to keep running legacy software, this is a great way to keep your system running fast as workloads increase. You can also set up your system to dual boot with any 64 Bit Windows system and Windows XP.....but it does take some knowhow. If the price of this one is too high,....you can buy a 3.0 GHz fixed frequency version for around $35 and 3.3 GHz
dual-channel version of this thing for $25, neither one is a slouch for any normal work or light gaming.

Highly recommended to get one if you have a old computer with a motherboard that uses a LGA 775 CPU Processor.

This Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 CPU Processor made a world difference for my computer. It is now much faster and process data Instantly. For this was a great price.

Thank you

A decent processor for final upgrade on socket 775 if you get decent price

Its a great processor. The 1* review on performance says a CPU with a 2100 benchmark on the most authoritative site is better than this one, which benchmarks over 4000. I seriously question this.>
OTOH why someone would spend $180 on this when they could just buy a great board and new i5; that is another question.

Certainly a decent processor, but at the prices some ask I'd just put my ram into a mobo that is current (and will have a better future)and get a new processor. New faster i5s at $150 so you can figure it out.Read full review...

Intel Quad Core Extreme: Upgrade without replacing the mother board.

Brought new life to an LGA775 motherboard. Everything runs faster. This purchase was part of a overall upgrade including going to Win7 64 bit, 8 gigs ram, and quadro D 2000 graphics. Apps like photoshop, flight sims, & CAD are much improved with this upgrade. Highly recommend if you don't want to replace everything and have motherboard with upgrade potential. The quad core extreme CPU was sold as used, but is still working. Seller says it came out of existing systems and was not over clocked. The down side for a buyer is that the chip is holding its value at apx $300 so it's pricey compared to other processors that are down in the $50-$100 range. Its holding value because it's still very relavent 2 years later even though it's not the latest i7. Overall a good purchase, I don't regret buying. The PC get good use and is feels fast for my needs.Read full review...

Not worth the money

Absolutely not worth the money. My problem is that I have built over seven computers and sincerely do not understand why would I pay (even used) so much more for something that is just a little more sofisticated than AMD? sure this thing may be good but when you realize what you paid for it- it is not worth it! I built a new computer with AMD dual core Phenom II Black 3.2Ghz ($89.00 brand new) and it moves a lot faster than this Intel extreme QX9650 with four cores! It takes my $159.00 Phenom II 3.6Ghz four core 7 seconds to load up Quickbooks, and 9 seconds to load Win 7- This $300.00 used- chip takes 24 to 33 seconds to load the same program, and 1 to 1.5 mins to load Win 7, (even with 28% overclock!).
Intel is way over rated anb way too expensive. I think this may be the last ever intel computer that I will build.
Build with AMD CPUs and systems they are inexpensive and are workhorses.

Perfect CPU at the price I got it at!!!!!

All I can say is WOW!!!!!...I mainly needed to have a "FAST" 3.0 Ghz CPU for my Gaming System...I was running a Intel Q6600 which which also a "GOOD" CPU @ 2.4 GHz, BUT I had to overclock it to acheive 3 Ghz..."I DID NOT LIKE DOING THAT"..but this Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 @ 3 HHz Quad-Core Processor, "OUT THE BOX" was already set at 3.0 GHz "WITHOUT ANY OVERCLOCKING"!!!!...Perfect for all of my Flight Sims and Racing Sims AND ANY OTHER applicaions that I use on a daily basis!!!! NOTE: This is my first Intel Extreme CPU and I do see a difference in "Speed and Response" of ALL of my applications and I am lovin' it!!!Read full review...
