Cheap phone, great if original OS, may not work in 2014

I find Huawei M860 a cheap used phone suitable for our teen nephew, who loses them. Metro Pcs bought out by T-Mobile so these phones will cease to function as phones around end of 2014, though may still find use as mp3 or game player. Service provider changes cause some features to stop working, and several useful pre-installed apps fail to work, such as News & Weather. For low price, an okay android phone, and would buy again, at least till mid-2014. After that time, would look for sim-card phone to work on T-Mobile. A terrific feature of these older androids: you can sideload apk applications and store them on phone's memory card, while with newer phones this not possible due to new operating systems which require applications reside on phone itself, thus restricting number of apps user can keep active. On older phones with older OS, owner can have as many apps as his card can hold, save them, transfer them to his other phones, reuse them or reuse them. I recommend based on qualifications above.Read full review...

I would recommend this phone.

I purchased this phone not long ago and so far for the most part I am satisified. On the plus side the ascend is a good starter smartphone for cheap. Its excellent for people who are not up on the latest technology as far as the world of androids but want to learn. So its not too complicated. I didnt have a manual with my phone and was still able to navigate around it pretty well. That being said, this phone definitely has some downfalls. The biggest one has to do with it not being 3g eventhough its advertised. When I got my phone turned on by metro I was informed that my service is 1x instead of 3g because metro no longer makes 3g phones but it is still being advertised as such. I found that to be true because on the top of the screen it says 1x instead of 3g. Thats a huge downfall because without the 3g, the internet runs very slow and you can forget about playing youtube videos unless you have have time to wait a half hour to play one video. however the phone does offer wi fi and as long as that is connected or you find a hotspot, your internet should play just fine with minimum delays. Im still learning my phone and Im finding there are lots of apps available for those who like to stay busy which is good. I dont like that certain basic standard features are hidden like the alarm clock. I still cant find it. When it comes to deleting certain items, that can be difficult cuz its hard trying to find delete for certain applications and i noticed that certain features that used to be standard on any phone like a ringtone for your contacts now has to be downloaded through an app or else you wont receive that feature. The headphone port hole is too small for any standard headphone or attachment so it is useless to me. It could be that mine has a defect. Im not sure. The only other thing about the phone is it has poor battery life but im finding that is very common with android phones in general. But all in all a good handy device to keep you occupied for a reasonably cheap price.Read full review...

Good Average Android Phone

This cheap android phone from Metro PCS is the first Android phone released last 2011, the phone works perfectly good except for the battery life which drains so fast even if you don't download so much applications. I remember deleting the applications thinking it would extend the battery life, even turning off the GPS but it didn't help. Good android phone for starters. The phone does not have a good quality pictures even if it's a 3.2 megapixel, video quality not so clear & crisp either. The other issue is the phone freezes a lot of times, even if I reset the phone to factory settings which I thought will improve the phone but did not work. The good issue is the speaker phone is excellent which I love about it especially when I am driving. If you're only after an average android phone, I would recommend this product, but if you want a better & excellent android phone you might wanna spend some more money to find a good one, so my overall rating for this product is only 3 stars, which is Average.Read full review...

Everything is as advertised

Nice phone. Easy to navigate. Scratches easliy, but a cover will fix that. Lots of memory for apps and with Metro PCS, the $50 per month for everything is a great deal. Sevice areas for Metro are a little hit or miss, but in my area there is great coverage. The screen is a decent size, but there is a learning curve for texting for people with large fingers (I have to use the corner of my fingernail). Overall- good phone for the money. More than enough for the average cell phone user.Read full review...

Its a great phone.

I like this phone because it use the Android system. And i wanted to test how the system works. With this phone i learn that there is more apps available and free than the blackberry market. But nothing its perfect, so there are also some things i didn't like on this phone. Battery spent fast if you have many apps on this phone. Also when you have others features like auto update if you have emails account, gps, and bluetooth all this spent your phone's battery life.
After i updated the system to Androis 2.2 now its more faster. And it have better features.

V.E.R.Y nice phone for price.!!!!!!!......!!!!!!!!

My experience with the Huawei M860 a.k.a Ascend - Blue (Metro PCS) Smartphone so far is VERY good. I updated it to 2.2 froyo and now it is fast as lightning lol. I bought this because I got in a situation with my Sprint service and this is the B.E.S.T price RIGHT NOW . This phone is probably as fast as most 3G phones on the sprint lineup in my opinion. Anyways I haven't activated it yet but if you have a wifi connection you can do pretty much everything. If you want a phone that is droid and your on Metro Pcs and your not trying to pay 2 much for a phone then get the Huawei Ascend. V.E.R.Y nice phone for price.!!!!!!!.......!!!!!!!Read full review...

Great Phone!

This is a great phone. So far I find it will do everything I need it to and probably a lot more. It does seem to use up the battery pretty fast, much faster than my old Blackberry, but I probably have something running that is sucking up the juice. Other than that, I think it's a great first smartphone. Would recommend it to anyone.Read full review...

Great Starter Smart Phone

Easy to set up and plenty of apps to keep you busy. Battery life is lacking a little, but overall a nice phone. I really like the size of the phone, not as big and bulky as the Iphone. Built sturdy, but the small closures that cover headphone and power jack make me nervous about their longevity.Read full review...
