If you liked the first one you'll like this one.

If you liked the first one you'll love this one. If you didn't like the first one but enjoyed it's characters and/or story then you should give this one a try because it's very similar to the first one's battle system but more improved. It's also non linear which is good for what type of game this is. You can tame monsters in here too. My only complaint is that there's alot of DLC that looks really good but there's just so much of it. Overall a very good game weather you like the first one or not you should enjoy this game especially if your a long time Final Fantasy fan like myself.Read full review...

2/10 - Feces wrapped in gold.

Tedious game-play. Just tiring monotonous repetitive nonsense.

The game is "on rails" the whole time, with the exception of being forced to farm for hours on end until you're strong enough to continue.

Everything in the game folds up or transforms in some way. Even the Eidolons are transformers now. They literally fold up and turn into vehicles. Are they paying the creators of Transformers royalties? Because they should be.

The story seems like it was written by a 12-year-old. It has all the worst parts of a cheesy soap-opera, Michael Bay's Transformers, and George Lucas' Star Wars prequels all wrapped up into one retarded package.

This game is direct proof that Square-Enix has completely lost their way, and have no idea how to make a good game anymore. The apple has fallen so far from the tree that it's not even an apple anymore; it's a decrepit, irradiated termite zombie that has come back to eat the tree.

GREAT Improvement from FF13. A game worth playing

Unlike in FFXIII, I actually felt the emotion in this game. The characters were very well developed. Unlike in FF13 where it bugged me that the character's development felt rushed and completely unemotional [ for example with Hope, his mom and hatred for Snow]
The battle system has IMPROVED ALOT as well as the LEVELING mechanism. FF13 used to anger me with the unfair leveling system but it is all fixed. There are A LOT to do in this game which makes it much more fun even AFTER you beat the game. Future DLC will add an addition to the game so right now, it is not over even if you beat everything.
I personally love the characters, the dialogue and most of all the ending. It isn't a boring, cliche one and it is full of emotion. When I beat FF13 i thought [that was it?!] The ending made me feel incomplete. But the ending in FF13-2 made me feel like I actually completed this journey.

I was personally a harsh critic when I thought about getting this game due to Sqaure's epic failure with their first sequel, FFX-2 and then how I didn't really "LOVE" FF13 but...I gave it a chance.
Which is what you all should do cause Square really listened to their fans on this one.
I don't know what else to say but play it give it a try. Don't judge what you do not know
and at the end of the day, if you still don't like it, then at least you had an open mind and played it.

A good sequel to the original Final Fantasy XIII

This game is a direct sequel to the previous Final Fantasy XIII. This game had various improvements upon the paradigm shift battle system which made it more smooth, flowing and enjoyable. The game has a great change of pace which gives players the opportunity to explore different worlds and time at their choice unlike the previous game's linear story line. I enjoyed the game's creature capture and being able to have them in your party however you can have one at a time. I would recommend this game to players who are fans of the Final Fantasy XIII series.
The DLC further explains the game and adds more usable party members.

Great sequel

This is a really fantastic game that fixes some of the qualms people had with xiii. The ability to catch monsters and fight with them to fill out your party as well as the beautiful landscapes presented to you in this game accompanied by time travel makes this well with playing. I wanted to 100% this game.Read full review...

Great addition to the Final Fantasy line!

I have always loved the final Fantasy games. Final Fantasy 13-2 is very good. I definitely recommend it to people new to the series and people who have played them before.

A very smooth and good sequel to Final Fantasy XIII.

Unlike the first one, this game allows you to customize more things than just weapons! You can also capture monsters and have them on your team! Of course they can level up too, with the required materials.

The battle system is still about the same except this time there's button pressing on cinematic action or a monster attack.

The story isn't as linear as the first game, you can now go on side quests early in the game to obtain rare weapons and items, and capturing rare monsters!
