Great condition

The phone isn't a daily use for me. More of a once in awhile type of thing to take me back to the old days of the iPhone and iOS. Just a fun little thing to have. The phone arrived in great shape, hardly looks used. Money well spent!Read full review...

Its Apple

In regards to the star ratings:
- battery life isnt ideal; it's better than most, but can always be better.
- it's one of the most expensive smartphones on the market before subsidy. enough said.
- it's the easiest to use smartphone available: the printed instructions attest to that by being a fraction the size of competing phones in its class. the feature set is excellent as it can be used in full by the widest range of users while the market leading app store further increases it's capability.
- once design, build quality, and customer service and support are taken into account, it's a 5/5 star phone, able to overcome it's benign issues.

no, it's not the iPhone 5 that the most repugnant of tech "journalists" claimed was inevitably coming based on lies about "sources" and later bashed by the same for not being as such. those who are familiar with Apple and their iPhone line, however, expected what we received based on their previous release history. despite the negative reviews by an ignorant press, this is Apple's best iPhone ever, and the market clearly agrees.

despite the familiar exterior, both in dimensions and materials, the return of this design was warmly welcomed by the masses as a year later, it's still by far the most exclusive feeling smartphone on the market and will be remembered alongside the original iPhone, the Bondi Blue iMac, and the unibody MacBook Pro as one of their most memorable designs. it's truly a magnificent design in it's clean look, top quality materials, and luxurious feel, all assembled in a very tight, dense package that just oozes quality. while the look of it may be comforting in its familiarity, it's actually brand new on the inside.

starting with the processing unit, Apple upgraded to the ARM A9 core and then doubled them with it's A5 SoC processor. they also doubled up the cache to 1MB (512KB per core) to feed it and increased graphics performance by 5 times with the PowerVR 543 GPU. finally, they clocked this SoC processor to 1GHz and 512MB of RAM on a 200MHz bus to give you a phone with more graphics and computing power than a first generation Xbox. despite all of this computing power, it hardly uses any actual power: battery capacity went up only 2.5% while claimed runtimes were extended by hours, all thanks to an extremely efficient design of the SoC.

to ensure you never leave home without your point and shoot digital camera, the sensor has been upgraded to 8mp. people who know better know that megapixels arent everything, so they continued use of a backside illuminated sensor to ensure the most light possible for excellent low light imagery, well beyond that of the competition. the aperture has been stepped up to f2.4 over the iPhone 4's f2.8 stop, and feeding that much larger hole is an all-new lens package with IR and UV filters to produce more natural colors. with the faster CPU, the result is faster loading, shorter times between shots, and images that dont look like they came from a phone. to top it off, they upgraded the video recording to full 1080p.

and if you have no one to talk to, now you have Siri. it's API hooks reach deep into the system, allowing the user to manage their phone simply by one of the best voice recognition systems available. of course that makes the keyboard redundant with it's dictation accuracy.

despite more evolution than revolution, this evolutionary step is akin to going from neanderthal to homo sapien, with the Galaxy Nexus looking like a miss

Stay away from jailbroken iPhones unless you know the issues

Excellent, easy to use smart phone.

Many people are looking for an unlocked iPhone which can be used on carriers other than ATT such as t-Mobile. Unless you know exactly what you are doing you should stay away from phones that weren't unlocked by ATT. Effective 4/8/12, ATT will factory unlock iPhones which weren't reported as stolen and which aren't associated with an actuve customer agreement (typically a 2 year contract). ATT will do this at no cost and you do not need to be an ATT wireless customer. Note that I did this.

If you want an ATT unlocked iPhone 3G/3GS then consider the following;
. Most of the unlocks involve installing an iPad baseband (6.X) which breaks your GPS, requires that you restore (similar to rebooting a PC which is required if you have software or performance problems) your iPhone using a custom ipsw file. If you aren't around your computer or get a new computer you will need to know how to create a custom IPSW file to restart your phone.
. Using the iPad baseband causes the GPS in the iPhone to not work. Some people report that their GPS is still working but the iPhone is getting a location from the cell tower which is not as accurate as GPS.
. You will not be able to upgrade (at least not easily) to a newer version of Apple software.
. If a seller says that the iPhone needs to be restored by the buyer then don't bid on these phones. The chipset in the iPhone 3GS changed in the spring of 2011 and attempts to unlock iPhones with 3GS's broke the baseband software and this can not be fixed without changing the baseband chips.
. If you buy a jailbroken iPhone then be sure that you know how to change the root password on the iPhone else a hacker can very easily access your phone over WiFi using WINscp. There are some nice non-Apple apps available only to jailbroken iPhones but most people would not know how to install them using Cydia.

I would strongly suggest that in light of ATT's new unlock policy that you look for an iPhone which;
1 - Is not jailbroken
2 - Has not been reported as lost or stolen
3 - Is not associated with an active ATT customer agreement

Touch function is excellent. Camera is better than 3G. Speaker's location is good comparing with Samsung Galaxy. Digital compass is a good feature.Read full review...

Don't Leave Home Without It!

I had a Blackberry for approximately 2 years and hated every moment of it. I was able to recently switch to the Apple iphone 3GS 8GB with AT&T. This phone is definitely awesome. I have had the phone for a approximately a month now and I love it. Although it is early, I don't suspect I will have as many problems as I did with the Blackberry. Here is my review, don't forget to rate it at the end, hopefully you find it helpful!

There are many positives to this phone. It is fast, light weight, and works fast. My favorite thing is the unlimited amount of apps available for this phone. You can either pay for apps you want or download free ones. So far, I have had all free apps. I suppose I will eventually buy one if I really like it. Some apps include tools that will assist you with everyday life, games, and social network apps. I use facebook and twitter on a daily basis. The battery seems to last a good amount of time, depending on usage. I do try to charge it at least every other day. I have used apps and called people in which the battery has not yet been in the red. I do charge it on a daily basis. The phone and message area is easy to use. I use the recent call list and contact list for this a lot. It separates each call into blocks. Retrieving messages are also easy. There is a easy to use voicemail section, keypad, and you can even store favorites.

It was easy to convert my old songs into the new phone. I had a previous ipod touch. The only thing I notice is when playing basketball the songs skipped. I had to put the screen lock on and it seemed to fix the issue. I have to play around with the software and get my playlists back in.

Text messaging is also easy to use. It separates the messages, almost into blocks. You choose a specific message and get all texts from that individual. You have to get a little use to the keyboard. You can mistype from time to time but it will correct automatically what you get wrong. Sometimes the auto correct can be quite amusing. I actually shut mine off!

I usually always use the Wi-Fi section in the settings. It is pretty easy to use. If you connect to a local Wi-Fi, you are not charged for data on your network. It is easy to find and displays all local Wi-Fi connections, including if a password is needed or not.

The internet is great to use and is easy. You can easily navigate through the screen once you get used to pinching in and out. You can also easily open new screens and keep old ones up.

I having been having a little difficult with obtaining emails. It works great at home but I have problems outside of my residence. I don't know if it is problems with my local service provider or the phone. I have to look into it.

I highly recommend this phone. I was able to get it for a good price with AT&T and I'm very happy with it. Many recommend the iphone 4g but this one seems to accomplish everything I need for now.

For my needs, this phone ROCKS!!!

I use it as a Go Phone and have all the functions I had in a contract phone for a FRACTION of the cost, although my local AT&T store told me it would not work without a contract! I don't use it for a lot of online purposes, but I have been able to access everything I've tried so far. No complaints, and I've had it for nearly a month. For people who want a darn nice smartphone without the expense and commitment of a contract, I recommend this phone.I'm still learning to use it, but am quite pleased with it. I am fine with the 3GS, as it serves all my needs, whereas my kids would just HAVE to have the 4GS! For us old folks who just want nice phones, this one will do it.
If I could have had a flash feature on the camera, it would have been perfect. But I can't subtract points even for that!
I had a Droid before & loved it, but THIS......is even better!
