It's a good laptop overall. It's very affordable which makes it easy to afford/purchase and this laptop can be simply upgraded a little bit or used the same way it comes. MacBook A1181 13.3" Laptop - 2008 era. Parts only - Mostly works.

Laptop was well wrapped and arrived quickly. There was a problem with the screen misbehaving but it appears to run fine after swapping in an old MBP disk and new battery with a little bit of occassional screen flicker. Largely serviceable for a 13 year old laptop.Read full review...

lightweight, easy to use & blazing fast. 100% Production friendly

I purchased the 2008 MacBook because I was looking for an affordable notebook that could handle my high end production needs. Upon unboxing the device, I was a bit disappointed with it's small size. But as I powered it on, I was well pleased as it's capability was much greater than what I expected. The device is powered by intel Core 2 Duo processor, which makes boot time, page load, multi tasking & production a breeze. I was told that this device can take up to 6GB of ram, but it works flawlessly with 4GB.

As of now, I am getting 5hrs of battery life which means I can produce on the go without having to stop for a charge. On the otherhand, I don't like the plastic design. in time, the edges of the palm rest will crack and chip away & If you were to drop this device, you may need to buy a new one if you don't have a warranty. In addition, I don't really care for the on board webcam & neither do I like the fact that the on board mic is enabled by default (call me paranoid). In comparison to the older apple laptops, this device will run circles around the previous models without one hiccup.

To sum it up, this device is lightweight, easy to use & it is blazing fast. I can not wait to put it to the test in the field. Pro Tools testing was successful, now it's time to see how she does with Final Cut recording, editing & rendering. If I could go back to the date I purchased it, I don't think I would have went with anything else.Read full review...

Great if you don't want to spend a ton of money.Great entry level laptop

First I want to say that I'm new to the apple world and i was looking for a used clean,functional laptop.I already owned a iPhone & iPad so I kinda have some experience with apple.I payed a good a price for my white Mac book 2008,it looked good out off the box.The only issue I had was I got laptop on Saturday and only had 3 days before i could send it back.The first problem I had was the wifi card didn't work right from the start.When I bought the Mac book they claimed they tested all parts of the laptop and it was in working functional condition.After pulling my hair out and buying wifi boosters,moving my router closer to where I would be using the laptop,I even went to the apple store twice they couldn't do anything for me.Now i'am 5 days in and the 3 days that I has is now gone,now i'am stuck.I finally went to a local 3rd party apple dealer and he replaced my wifi card and now it's works like a charm...The point of this is when they state all parts have been checked and in working condition be aware.Also check the return policy and make sure u have more than 3 days to try the product out.Over all since I fix the wifi issue Thi upgraded to lion and it's still working fine no issues what so ever.I have dual core processor,120gb hard drive and it all works like a charm.I don't know many years I can get out of it but keep my fingers crossed.Read full review...

MacBooks easy to set up remotely for Grandparents! Plus no worries of virus

We "crossed over" to Macs last year, and love them! We were still offering "tech support" via the phone for our parents that live on the East Coast after we moved to the West coast in November. Plus phone calls are not the same as seeing the grandkids, so both sets of grandparents got Macbooks for Christmas this year. So easy to set up! They really are easy to transition to, plus we can now SKYPE, thanks to the MacBook's ease of use for the grandparents. I think that now makes 5 MacBooks bought on Ebay, 4 refurbished (but no one would ever know!) I also no longer get questions about the PC slowing down etc!!!Read full review...

I like my 1st macbook

I ordered my 1st macbook and it came pretty fast as expected . It's refurbished but apparently looks new . There are scratches on the bottom and a big crack. But over all its good .. I couldn't locate my macbook modle number as its faded away all printings I guess . But I'm loving it . The speakers didn't work for 1st two days then I had to do some youtube search and found out that a tooth pick can fix it and it did fix 😊. It's good Read full review...

Post states that returns are not available for items missing essential parts. But it doesnt state the fact that your item will be missing essential parts. For example, the post clearly shows that the laptop will come complete with hard drive installed. But when shipped they remove the hard drive prior.Read full review...

Problem: Battery or Charging system???

My opinion of the Mac may change when I try a different replacement battery. The Mac came with no batter. I ordered a replacement battery and within a week the Mac displayed an error message say the battery needed “servicing”. I do not know yet if the problem is with this particular battery or with the charging system of the Mac.Read full review...

Fun and cheap

The laptop is fun if your coming from windows and are trying to learn Mac OS. Its cheap which again makes it easier to learn. The laptop is really slow and dated however unless you have an extra bit of money to buy a solid state drive to drop in. I paid 40 bucks for a 120gb and it made a huge difference.
