The company behind the ARGO brand is Ontario Drive & Gear Limited (ODG), founded in 1962 in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. Initially, ODG focused on engineering precision transmissions and drive gears for the North American market.
In 1967, it developed a special transmission for a six-wheel drive all-terrain vehicle called the Amphicat. ODG realized the potential for growth in this newly created segment and launched the first ARGO vehicle in 1967.
