Land Rover Range Rover Mark IV / L405 (2013 – present)
The fourth generation of the iconic Range Rover line, the new model was developed from the ground up to provide the ultimate luxury SUV, following the innovative spirit of the original design from over 40 years ago. It is the world’s first SUV with a lightweight all-aluminum body and an all-new state-of-the-art lightweight suspension architecture that delivers class-leading wheel travel, exceptional wheel articulation, and composure to deal with the toughest conditions. Land Rover wanted the new Range Rover taken to a new level, with even greater luxury and refinement, enhanced performance and handling on all terrains, and significant advances in sustainability.
“Don’t change it. Just make it better.”
The fourth generation Range Rover features an all-aluminum monocoque body that helps the new SUV weigh in a 770 pounds less than the outgoing model. Factor in the smaller, lighter turbocharged V6 and the weight savings is even more dramatic at 925 pounds. The new design and interior continues the brand’s momentum into the luxury market. Basically, the new Range Rover is lighter, more refined, more capable off-road, and more frugal with fuel.
Worldwide customers have a choice of two gasoline (5.0-liter 375hp LR-V8 and 510hp LR-V8 Supercharged) and two diesel (3.0-liter 258hp TDV6 and 4.4-liter 339hp SDV8) engines, all of which are now paired with a smooth and responsive eight-speed automatic transmission.
