Mike and Jim Ring have done it again! For the 4th time in the last 7 years, they’ve built a Goodguys Top12-winning car. Their latest, a ’65 Mustang named “Blizzard” for customer Dominick Farbo has won the Goodguys 2014 Grundy Worldwide Insurance Muscle Machine of the Year.

The build served as a catalyst for a new relationship between Farbo and the Wisconsin based Ringbrothers, themselves former Goodguys Trendsetter award winners. Together they accomplished Farbo’s vision of a Muscle Machine that was raw, yet features plenty of hi-end detailing – a Ringbrothers specialty.

The build started with one of Ringbrothers carbon fiber packages including the roof, hood, doors, side scoops and rear bumper. They were added to the fastback body, along with a one-off aluminum front bumper, quarter window gas filler, and trimmed front fenders. The Ringbrothers also crafted the taillight panel then coated the car in BASF’s Blizzard White water based paint.

The thunderous 427 stroker under the hood is a NASCAR-based 351W with aluminum heads from Wegner Automotive. It uses an aluminum Holley 4150 carb, custom headers, and MSD/Ringbrothers Terminator ignition to produce a whopping 710hp on pump gas! All those ponies are driven through a Bowler 5-speed high performance transmission. In true Ringbrothers fashion, the engine bay is fully detailed with an assortment of one-off parts and a tasteful use of color.

This machine handles like a slot car! The suspension is comprised of DSE Quadra-Link with a John’s Industries 9-inch, a DSE coilover Aluma Frame with the delete kit, DSE power steering and 14 and 15 inche Baer Brakes inside HRE P40SC wheels. It also has a roll cage to stiffen the chassis which was installed and painted before the carbon fiber roof skin was added.

Inside, more Ringbrothers wizardry can be found. The competition theme is achieved with a MOMO steering wheel, Recaro seats, drilled pedals, a one-off shifter and carbon-like floor matting. Classic Instruments aviator-style gauges are nestled in a CNC machined dash panel. Upholstery Unlimited handled all of the black leather trimming chores.

The finished package is a stunning Muscle Machine that was not only an eye-catcher on the show circuit this year after its 2013 SEMA debut, it was also flogged hard around the cones at several Goodguys AutoCross events the last 9 months.
