Land Rover revealed the sleek and elegant Discovery Vision Concept at the New York Auto Show. This high-tech SUV pushes innovation to the next level.

The Vision Concept is modern and relevant showing the future direction of the brand. It’s meant to represent what will become an entire family of Discovery-badged models.

With its laser light technology, the car can track objects and help guide and navigate terrain and obstacles. Further, tiny cameras mounted on the grille sends footage to a heads-up display that enables the driver to see information on the windshield. It also can be driven autonomously, but even more exciting is that the driver can get out of the vehicle and steer it into a parking spot or over a boulder through their smartphone.

Most, if not all of the technology will trickle out over the next decade on Land Rover’s production vehicles.

The three-row, seven-passenger concept is super luxurious and versatile. Its spacious cabin is upholstered with two types of oil- and water-repellent premium leather. The seats in the second and third rows are able to slide backwards and forwards fully, both independently and as a complete row, fitting flush with the seat ahead or behind them (‘theatre-fold’). The seat can also fold down flat, with the seatback effectively becoming a table surface (‘table-fold’).

The first model of this new Discovery line will actually be a compact SUV set to reach showrooms in 2015.

We can’t wait to see more.
